I just read the thread on 'how big will my doodle get?' and it's a question I've been wondering about for a while. I went to a doodle meet some weeks ago - all multigen doodles - and it struck me how much growing Jofi will need to do if she's going to reach a typical standard size.

Jofi's supposed to mature to a standard labradoodle (she's an Australian multigen and I know that these tend to be smaller than the standard F1s and F1bs). She's 37.5 lb at the moment and has just turned 6 months. The vet seemed to think she'd end up at 53 - 55 lb. She was around 25 lb at 4 months (if I remember). At the moment she's about 50cm (19.7 inches there abouts).

So here is the tough question - is she pretty much her full-size at this point or is she likely to grow a bit taller? At the moment she's about the height of a medium sized lab (actually probably a bit shorter because her hair makes her look bigger).

If she stays more or less as she is then it doesn't matter - I love her all the same and won't go out buying doggy high-heels - but I just love the look of those lanky standard labradoodles so many of you have.

Hi

Seems to me she has same exact measures Emily has. Emily is a what they call a medium and according to the breeder will grow to between 50-55 pounds which is consistent with what your vet said

I doubt she is done growing - as I understand Doodles tend to take longer to get to full size. Shadow is just over 8 months and went through a big growth spurt this last month. That being said, he is now 28 pounds and 18/19 inches, but he was 15 pounds at 4 months and 18 pounds at 6 months. (Which shows he did a lot of growing between 6 and 8 months)He is supposed to be a medium and his breeder expected him to be 30-35 pounds as an adult and no more than 20 inches.

So compared to Shadow, I would call her standard rather than medium. (I thought Standard was supposd to be 50 pounds+)

Thanks for the replies :). I looked at the age/weight/size chart for golden-doodles and if that was anything to go by, I shouldn't expect Jofi to get much taller. I hope she grows a bit more - there's another doodle (Australian) in the park that's 55 lbs and the perfect height (in my opinion) but Jofi's about 4 inches smaller at the shoulder at this point.

Are Emily and Charlie also Australian labradoodles (or perhaps F1bs)? Emily really looks a bit like Jofi with her lovely chocolate colour. Both Charlie and Emily have lovely full faces.

Actually, from having seen pics of Dexter and the occasional home movie, I have to say he is the size I hope for (of course Jofi is a girl and she'll likely be a bit shorter) - I'm just in love with Dexter's lanky legs and wonderful figure (sorry I shouldn't be oogling other peoples' dog hahahha!!!). My partner likes Jofi as a medium - so we'll see how she ends up.

Charlie is an Australian labradoodle. His weight fluctuates in the low 50's. I'm not sure about his height but he is very manageable. We did not want a huge dog since my daughter who lives in an apartment is our occasional petsitter.

ETA: I just measured Charlie's height and he is about 26". I don't think he was this tall at 6 months. Although he didn't gain weight as quickly after that, he must have sprouted longer legs.

Chouette will be a year old on the 10th, and she now weighs 45 lbs. (down three from the last weigh-in, which is good because she was a bit chunky) and is 22 1/2 " tall, which is up from last time. With her short cut she has the long rangy legs of a poodle, but before we trimmed her so drastically she looked like a furball with short, stubby legs. So you have to figure out what the architecture of the dog beneath the coat is really like.

Chou's breeder thought she'd end up about 60 lbs., which was what I was hoping for, but there's a lot to be said for her current size: she's more portable and she still fits on my easy chair with me for evening cuddles.

Jofi is so adorable that she'll be perfect whatever size she ends up being.

Charlie was about 40 pounds at six months. Now at 13 months, he is right around 50. I think he is the perfect size. :D
