Sorry to have worried anyone.
Mary, Diane and Sue, I really appreciate your friendship and the messages from you all. And thank you to all who posted here inquiring about me. I got a bit derailed.
As for my babies, they're doing wonderfully. Bella has put on 15 lbs and has become quite beautiful if I do say so myself. She and Moses have bonded well and really have fun together. Now that she's not such a sad looking bag of bones, we're really enjoying her. I did finally get her AKC papers too... so that's a plus!
Snuggles is growing by leaps and bounds. She's taken after Canada in her stocky build and Moses with the long poodle legs. He coat is finer than a labs, but nothing like a poodle... it has huge curls that remind me of a "Farrah" 70's look. So far she doesn't shed or mat... so I hope that continues. She was 6 months old yesterday.
Chip (chocolate standard poodle boy) has completely won my heart. He is chubby and bubbly so is very much an animated teddy bear. He's 7.5 months old and is nearly as big as Moses already. He is SUPER easy going and lets the others push him around without complaint. If I could just get him to stop jumping on everyone, he'd be perfect.
Canada, I am hoping, is bred for a Mid-April litter. This will be her last before I spay and retire her. She's now 5 and has had 4 litters... 2 before I got her... so she deserves some time to just enjoy being a pet without pups. My vet agreed she's in great condition so this pregnancy should be fine, and spaying her after would be the ideal. She decided when the weather was so cold that she would finally cooperate on house training... so it IS possible to teach an old dog new tricks. She's definitely matriarch of the pack and keeps the others in line.
Moses is dropping weight again. I've always had a tough time keeping weight on him, as he's not a great eater and has always been quite slim. He's torn between wanting to be in the house with me or being outside with the other dogs. When he's in, he gains weight... when he's out, he loses. I try to keep him in and rotate the others in and out... so he's always got an indoor friend, but he does enjoy being outside and gets very pushy about going back out when he decides it's time. My vet says he's fine, but sometimes I wonder... hopefully it's just the overprotective mother in me. LOL
Having all 5 of them in full time is simply TOO much. My house is small and with no one here to help distract them, I end up feeling like the pied piper with them all jumping up and following my every move. I will be very glad when winter is over and we can play in the yard more.
