This morning when I returned from my walk with Charlie, my granddaughter who was still lazily lounging in her pajamas said, "Ew, Charlie smells like a sweaty dog!" I thought he smelled just fine. My husband says he smells like Fritos! What?

I never thought any dog smelled like Fritos. How about yours?

Maybe its time for Charlie to have a bath? 8)

Check your doodle's ears sometimes it can mean a yeast infection is coming on.

and a bath won't hurt either :wink: just make sure you check the ears.
for today warm water and vinegar will help clean them and make sure you dry them

Both of our doodles dont really smell, but after a run at the dog park they reek like other peoples dog slobber. I think doodles are really non-smelling dogs from our experience. Maybe your was snacking on some Fritos? haha. Or the Frito snacker petted and rubbed chip crumbs all over. lol

Sadie used to have a pleasant odour but as she gets older (she is now 2) I have noticed more of a doggie smell. And her breath - whew! I know I should brush her teeth more often.

Annmarie, I'm familiar with the smell of bad ears. It's a very "special" scent. I clean Charlie's ears twice a week since he has alot of hair.

Evidently, according to my critics, he no longer smells like sweaty dog. :roll: I'm guessing it was more a wet dog smell. It's quite dewy in the morning and his lower legs get pretty damp. Today he did NOT come home covered in dog slobber. When he plays with the Newfie puppy on the next block, he looks like he's been hosed down. Ewww...

Of course, there's always the possibility that he was eating Fritos. :lol: Anything he finds on his walk goes down very quickly.

And... it probably is time for a bath.

Only time Annabelle gets that sweaty smell is when it's warm out and she's been playing ball, but once she cools down the smell is gone. If she gets out and rolls in the dirt/grass alot and it's been a few weeks since a bath, she will no longer have her post bath "baby powder" smell but she doesn't reek

I used to love fritos, even better if there were some M&M's around too

Bella does not smell to me at all. Her ears sometimes get a scent that is not unpleasant if I haven't cleaned them in a while. I can't describe it, but it is almost mediciney. And her paws ALWAYS smell like Fritos, but you have to put them up to your nose to smell them...and they actually smell GOOD to me :lol: (I LIKE Fritos :lol: )

Raleigh smells like a DOODLE!!!!! hahahahahaha.....seriously tho, there really is no odor about him...Mija on the other hand...not too sure with that white stripe down her back!
And Molly??? Strangely enough, her feet smell like popcorn! And so did our beloved Lab, Charlie....did a google quite awhile ago about dog feet smells, and the general concensus on feet was that they smell like popcorn...but I don't remember why..will have to search again!

My paralegal said that Tyke's feet smell like Cheetos - I guess that's pretty similar to popcorn! Her hair really doesn't have much of an odor at all, so far!

All dogs have sweat glands in their feet. It's one of only a few places dogs actually have sweat glands. They smell funny because their sweat smells like that!

Some things people have told me that they smell like popcorn or cheeto's! No amount of washing is going to make them smell really good. But if you really want to you can wipe their feet every now and then with baby wipes.

Now you all can say really I didn't know that!!!!!!

Well, that's an impressive bit of research. I'll have to let me husband know that the smell is Cheetos, NOT Fritos. Men... they just can't get anything right... :roll:

I don't think I'm too inclined to wash Charlie's feet with baby wipes. :lol: We'll just live with it.

No, Deb! It IS Fritos! Fritos are CORN chips, popcorn is CORN...

Cheetos are cheese... I think the corn snacks are the right foot smell :lol: .......

(Maybe cheetos are the left foot smell :lol: )
