Our puppy is just over 3 months old. We want to have her spayed and definitely before her first heat. What is a common or recommended age to have this done?

She goes to the vet for more puppy shots this Saturday, so we will discuss this with the vet then too.

Since she could go into heat by 6 months of age, I'd say before then...but your vet may want to wait.
Your vet will be the best one to answer this for you since everyone has a different opinion...but, by all means, do get it done BEFORE she goes into heat. You will be glad you did. (Plus it protects her from certain types of cancer too.)
