I am heading to Petco after work and just curious if you guys feed wet or dry food? I have always just had Chase on dry but I am just wondering which is best. As most of you probably know, Chloe has been losing large amounts of hair. Any suggestions before I head out would be greatly appreciated. 8)

All our dogs have eaten dry food with the exception of when Mollyann was diagnosed with Diabetes, we switched her to Iams can at Vet recommendation and of course since she had that, Heidipooh wanted it also - when Mollyann died, Heidi was 7 and we just kept her on that as we didnt wanna switch her back to dry - she ate canned until she died 4 yrs later

Since you dont know what is causing her hair loss I dont know that canned food would make a difference or not

I've only used dry....wet food can make some doodles poop a bit less firm.

OK with the hair loss..omega 3 will help

I mix a little wet food with Boyd's kibbles and he loves it. I mix it all up and microwave for 30 secs. I think it reminds him of when he was a wee pup!

On the topic of food, did ya'll see the Parade magazine article Sunday that said you should never feed your dog cheese or tuna? I have done both...

My thinking is to give them what they like and if they do well on it, don't change. I tried switching dog food on the lab ladies when I first got them because the food they'd been eating is NOT known to be a quality food by any means, but neither liked anything else, and both started loosing weight and condition, so I went back. As my dh would say, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

I saw that too, Lora, and wondered what that was all about. Our trainer uses cheese as a reward and so do I. I also sprinkle grated cheese on Chouette's food sometimes to pique her tastebuds.

We feed her dry food - Canidae. We had moistened our Great Dane's Nutro before giving it to her because giant breeds can be susceptible to bloat and there's some thought that allowing food to soak up water before giving it to the dog helps that. But we've gone to dry with Chou; I think it's better for her teeth. We do supplement with the occasional egg or table scraps, though.
