All of a sudden, Sadie is sticking to me like glue! I mean, great, she loves me, but...it's getting on my nerves somewhat

Is this just a phase??? Please say yes!

Julie how old is she? I just came across something the other day that i think they said about 14 months old they start with a fear phase and can become clingy for a bit.

She's not quite 8 months! It may be that she's awake more than when she was 3-4 months old so I'm really noticing it. I don't know but AHHHH, sometimes I just have to put her in her crate and go upstairs so I don't go crazy.
It's bringing back memories of my now-21-year-old-daughter. She used to shadow me everywhere around the house. Once I put clothes in the dryer, took a step backwards, and knocked her right over! I should have known she'd be right there I guess!

Lincoln was with his foster mom for only 2wks and when DH walked out of the house holding his leash and foster mom right behind Lincoln would take 3 steps then look at her 3 steps then look at her. It was sad while dogs surely can get attached rather quickly i think in Lincolns case it was because he so badly WANTED to be attached to something  He attached to us pretty quickly however he stopped following me around the house as much as he was a few days ago. I think he feels more secure that im coming back. When i get the mail i have him stay inside lose this way he starts to feel trust that im going to return ( mind you im just going down the driveway ,

Denver went through phases and he was very clingy at 8 months
again at 13 months, and again around 19 months.
He has always stayed close to me but the clingy times were very different.
Have not had that since 19 months..........He turns 2 tomorrow.

I have found the velcro-ness does lessen a bit with age. Dex still follows us, but not every single time we leave the room. Kirby, on the other hand, always follows us room to room - but he's only been with us for 8 months.

Maya follows me everywhere unless I block her path. She will go off by herself but is back within a few minutes. Right now she is standing over my shoulder giving kisses.

Ozzie (9 months today) does the velcro routine too. I just shove him off with a loud "OFF" command. I use the same command and tone when he deposits his butt on a chair. He responds, but gets indignant.

You have to be physical and really give them a powerful shove. Don't worry... Your pooch will still love you.

Jaxy is going through a fear phase right now (he is 11 mos) and he had started getting like this at around 8 or 9 mos. He is all over me, it usually doesn't bother me, but every now and then it frustrating to trip on a large dog when your are trying to do stuff around the house.

Cody is a velcro dog if we're in the kitchen. I'm sure its more because he's hoping for something to fall or for us to give him a treat then actually wanting to be stuck to us.
The funniest thing to watch is when DH grills. Cody sits next to DH in the kitchen while DH prepares the grillables, then follows DH out to the deck and watches him grill, then follows DH back into the house to deposit the dirty dish and get a clean one and then back out, then back in, etc. No matter how many times DH goes in and out, Cody is right there at his heals. In those instances, we dub Cody "Shadow" (which would've been a good name since he's black).

I think it was just that she wasn't feeling well and she was trying to tell me :(

She's not as velcr-y now but there are still times when she is and that's just fine. Just not ALL the time...PLEASE! :D

Marley is up and down as far as being velcro is concerned. With in the past week or so he has been spending nights down stairs in the family room. He always comes to bed with us, but lately after just a few minutes he gets up and heads down stairs. I think the summer months, with windows open, he hears all the outdoor noise and always wants to know whats going on out there. He is 13 months old tomorrow and we have been giving him more independence and more room to roam when left alone, little by little. He always likes to be with us, but he is enjoying his new found independence. I must admit I do miss him not in the room with us at night, but that is all part of growing up I guess. He is always glad to see me me each morning when I come down at 5 AM for our morning walk, and then when I finish breakfast, he darts upstairs to do a morning wake up and cuddle call with my wife at a little before six. They both love it. :D
