AWWWWWWWWWWW!!! Maureen, thanks for telling me...I had not heard anything about it!! The place is not far from me at all.....UNFORTUNATELY Abbie has a bad paw right now.....she has been in a cast for the past few weeks....what started out as a dislocated front left toe, is now a BAD paw pad from the way that the original cast rubbed on her foot! I guess when her foot swelled, the cast rubbed and basically rubbed her main pad right off of her front left paw! It has been a rough few weeks. She has been to the vet every other day to have her bandage changed....now it is healing well according to the specialist who has been treating her. We're just waiting for the scar tissue to come in and fill in the missing pad. She is fine, does not seem to be in any pain at all- You know how these Doodles are....you can't keep them down! She is in great spirits and LOVES to see everyone at the Vet! It's her Mother that they need to worry about! I have been a wreck!!! Good news is that she will be fine!
Poor Abbie! I am so sorry to hear about her paw! I remember when my girls and Chase ran away and tasted freedom, running over hill and valley and hot pavement...came home with virtually no padding left on their feet! They could not even walk to potty for 2 days...then after that it was very painful for a while.
I am glad she is healing, but I know that it can be a slow-go for her...please give her lots of hugs from cousins Bayley, Lexie, Chase and Rosie and Auntie Jac!
yes! It does look like an organized group! I have to say I am very thankful for Karen, Rosie-the-doodle's owner who operates the website www.coloradodoodle.com and everyone here benefits from her posting re-homes, and Romps, and even Doodle Breeders, for just contributions, at this time. But I LOVE their logo! I want a t-shirt!
Thanks for all the well wishes for Abbie!! She will be happy to hear them! It had been a rough road for her.....me too.....I have been so worried about her!! I have NO CLUE how she even hurt her toe in the first place. She woke up in the middle of the night "Screaming" holding her paw up in the air. It is the weirdest thing ever!! All of the Vets that have looked at her are baffled too! Then with the cast rubbing her pad off, they thought that they were going to have to do surgery because basically it was an absess pad!?!?!? Finally a surgeon looked at it and just snipped off the dead pad....now the scar tissue is growing in to reform the pad. She is doing great and LOVES to go to the "hospital" every other day to have her bandage changed. She is now sporting a baby blue bandage!
I am so glad that Abbie is feeling better...and I am not surprised to hear that she loves going to the doctor...she is such a sweet dog! It takes so little to please our babies...and they give us so much in return!
Hugs to you both, Susie and Abbie!
