Well, what started out as an innocent lunch with my wife and kids turned into a trip to the pet store to look at the lizards, snakes, fish, kittens, etc. This trip turned into my daughter begging for another kitten (we already have a cat, a Golden Retriever, and a Shit-zu). The begging turned into us going around town looking for a kitten we liked. This lead to looking in the Sunday paper the next day for kittens. This lead to my finding a number for Labradoodles. This lead to my going to look at said Labradoodles, which lead to my coming home with a Red Labradoodle. So, what started out as a sandwich turned into another large dog.......which leads me to my next comment. Took "Charlie" to the vet yesterday. I thought he looked older than 8 weeks when I got him. I've had 3 golden retrievers and he is bigger than all of them at this age. The vet looked at his chart, looked at Charlie and said, "No way this dog is 8 1/2 weeks old..........he's at least 11-12 weeks." The vet then looked at Charlie's teeth and got a strange look on his face and then said, "Wow, he is 8 1/2 weeks. I haven't seen a puppy this big since the last Mastiff that was in here. Are you sure they didn't sell you a Horseadoodle?"

So, Charlie is 22 lbs at 8 1/2 weeks. So we go from wanting a free kitten to an expensive LARGE dog. Hey, that's what makes life fun right? Charlie is red, which I understand is pretty rare and he's awesome........I guess by next Halloween we can give pony rides on him!

You can post them right here. Just include them with your post. Do you know how to do that? After you have the picture in something like Photobucket, copy it, come here, click on Img, paste the url number, and click Img again and submit. :D

22lbs  at 8 1/2wks old  !!!

I like the horsadoodle phrase. Sounds like Charlie will fit right in and you now have a new buddy.

I really can't wait to see a picture

And it's so true about innocent lunch...that's how we got Max.
Fiance and I went to lunch without the teenagers, read the paper while eating and ohhhhhh look a labradoodle ad. Ok go shopping, talk about how we are NOT going to get a dog ...I give in and say to my fiance OK you can SEE them but do not think for one moment we are taking one home. YEAH RIGHT.....2 hours later in our car is Max our baby doodle

one thought: you should have named charlie---> MR ED

Congratulations on your new puppy. Big or small they are great dogs.

I always thought Frankie was a big dog, but even he didn't hit 24lbs to 14 weeks. Now he is 7 1/2 months and 73lbs. I figure it is more to love. They think they are big babies no matter what size they are.

Good luck with Charlie. They really are fun dogs to have.

Congrats on your reddoodle! My doodle is a lightweight compared to you guys (only 47 lbs at 11 months) but since shes a rescue we don't know her background. Maybe one of her parents was a smaller poodle?

You'll love your big guy & good luck with the counter surfing, toilet paper shredding, tasmanian devil running, sock eating doodle!

Our Chester started out as a trip to the pet store for crickets for our gecko. Next thing you know...
Chester may be part of the Horsedoodle line too---he's 2 1/2 and 100lbs.
More to love.

Well come to the doodle addiction.

wow...110lbs of doodle!!! I just keep imagining 110lbs of doodle going full speed ahead in a house  , or how about trying to be a "lap" dog too :p I won't even try to think of counter surfing.
Hell a doodle that big can probably open the fridge door by himself hhahhahaa

this is going to be real interesting to see how big Charlie gets hahahhaa

I couldn't imagine a doodle that big. For us Max is big enough @50lbs in his 5th month. hahhaha

Wow, it seems like Dexter and Max are following the same growth chart :) Dex is just 20 weeks old and 45 lbs. He will be 5 months old on Christmas and I'm sure he'll be up to ~50 by then! I can't imagine a 22 lb puppy at 8 weeks :) He's going to be huge!!
