Wisconsin is under a deep freeze right now. Our high so far today is -1 here with a windchill of -16. When I heard how cold it was going to get, I got my 2 outside dogs inside and just hoped for the best. I expected puddles and piles but that's just to be expected when they're not house trained.
Canada (purebred Lab) has been amazing. She hasn't relieved herself once in the house. She gets taken out when Moses needs to go, and has done her thing on his schedule every time. Even overnight she let us sleep until 5:30 this morning and then woke us up crying frantically. She HAD TO GO! So DH took them all out and all 3 of the dogs made quick work of it and rushed back inside.
For a 5 yr old dog that had never been in other than short visits (during which she did have accidents) I find this amazing. She obviously wants to avoid giving us any reason to send her back outside. LOL The pup has been a different matter, not seeming to care where he does his thing yet... but he is going outside with the other 2 so will hopefully catch on soon as well.
I just had to brag on her a bit. If she keeps this up I don't plan to put her back out in the run until she's ready to deliver another litter. We're both happier about her being inside.
