Do they fishtail around corners too? That's what I've seen. If I wasn't so afraid the boys would get hurt I wouldn't feel so bad about finding it funny. Especially their expressions.
When they come in with damp paws it becomes 'Slick Track Doodle Racing'.

Yes - he fish tails around our corners - falls down - I'm afraid he is going to hurt himself! We call him eel dog - he gets down real low and tries to go as fast as he can around the corners - it is funny - but.....

we have mostly carpet, so the only problems are wide turns in the kitchen, crash in the cabinets, and the hardwood floors around the rugs in my room. when i had him groomed, they cut the hair in his pads, but thier pads are so smooth. maybe we need to all get those socks with the built in treads. on second thought, they don't need the extra traction to build up speed! :)

I know exactly what you're talking about. Archie is the funniest thing when it comes to playing fetch every evening. As soon as I sit on the couch, here he comes with his rope toy for me to throw. I will throw it low (so he nor Mikko will jump for it) and he will turn and his feet are going 90 to nothin' but he is going nowhere, it is a hoot to watch. He eventually gets his footing and always beats Mikko to it but only because Mikko is "easy" and he really could care less :D

we have 1000 sq ft of laminate with another 1000sq ft of mexican tiles.

RULE # 1....Max is crated when i wash floors.

RULE #2 we have 5 x8 wool rugs scattered around as it makes the house nicer and also helps max on less wipeouts

I must say though Max has mastered laminate floors and knows how NOT to skid/roll etc. It took him 4 weeks to get a grip.

)

I can tell you what not to do. Cody slips and slides - our floors are all hardwood. I bought two different brands of pad conditioner/wax and all it did was make him more slippery and got my floors all gunked-up. I don't know if he is just stronger and has outgrown it or if he just has some nice tough padding with a layer of dirt but he doesn't slide much at all anymore. You need to watch out for your doodle splaying his back legs out. He can damage his hips if he does that too much. When I tell Cody to "sit" his butt starts to slide out backwards so he scoots his front legs back. He does this funny back scooting sit if I make him stay like that for long - he usually opts for a "down" position.

I know this is an older post, but since I'm a newbie, I'm catching up on all the reading! My lab is indoors and we just put in beautiful dark hardwood floors. To our dismay, her nails are scratching up the floor terribly!! My husband wants her outside all day, but she's my buddy and it makes me sad not to have her follow me around everywhere! I just bought a cheap pair of fleece booties at Petco for about $6. It's kind of a pain to put them on/off when she needs to go out, but it's a solution to protect our floors (and I would think help the slipping around on laminate floors) and keep her in with me. She doesn't chew them, but has never been much of a chewer anyway. I figured if they didn't work out, it was only a $6 loss. They had more expensive booties, especially for warmth, but I'm in sunny California and didn't need anything to keep her warm. Hope this helps!! :D

I've heard of some people using the nail covers....There's a gal i know here that uses them on her labradoodle.

Max's nails get worn down on our mexican tiles when we play fetch. :D
And for some reason he's conquered the laminate floors too.

Though some days he loves to TRY to slide hahhahahaaa right under the xmas tree and make sure the lights jangle.

Jamies I love the surfboard effect!!!

I have those wool rugs 5x8 which aids in Max's traction

The fleece botties have a little bit of something (like "pleather") on the very bottom to help them from slipping. It's not the greatest, but it does help a bit! :D Did I read correctly that there is a spray also for their paws? I'm tired and am not sure I read that correctly!!
