I have put this on the UK forum but would like some more opinions. Have you had any problems with your doodles being shy, I know he is young but when we have visitors he yelps and goes into hiding. I have never experieced this before with other dogs. I know he needs to socialise when we are able to take him out, but family coming to see him from under a chair

maybe give your guests a treat and have them call your dog out of hiding...once he gets close give him the treat, it will show the dog they are nice and not scary.

Advice in one of the puppy books we have says to have guests rub butter on the backs of their hands and then offer their hand to the dog asking for kisses. Dog will then associate guests with yummy licks? Worth a try ...

My doodle is pretty shy around people too. He spent his first 6 months on a farm before we got him, so I always thought it was because he had not had much exposure to people. Maybe its just the personality of some of them (although apparently not typical).

My trainer also said to give guests treats to give the dog. So far, it hasn't helped. Its hard to give him treats when he's wedged himself under my end table.
