Please send prayers that the Santa Ana winds abate. My daughter is at school at UC San Diego. Classes have been cancelled. So far she hasn't had to evacuate, but it's pretty scary. None of the fires are contained at this point.
My in-laws (MIL, SIL, BIL) are currently here in NJ visiting until the middle of the week. They live in San Diego, and are watching the news very intently. This morning they heard that all of their cars are starting to get ash all over them. San Diego County is a big place, and they're hoping it stays out of their area. So far so good...
Thank you everyone! We talked to her last night and she was okay. Fortunately since we're in Texas it was easy for her to call out on her cell phone; all local lines were jammed. While she didn't have to evacuate, a friend of hers did but didn't have a car. My daughter gave him a ride to an evacuation shelter. I was so relieved when she called and said she got back home safely. Classes are cancelled again for today. The Santa Ana winds are supposed to let up later today or early tomorrow. So many people have lost homes. It's terrible.
This is just devestating! fire stretches from San Diego to Santa Barbara Counties. Last I heard over 260,000 people evacuated and over 800 homes/businesses burned. Thank goodness only one fatality so far, although that is one too many . . .
