A rolled up newspaper can be an effective training tool when used properly. For instance, use the rolled-up newspaper if your dog chews up something innappropriate or has a housebreaking accident. Bring the dog over to the destroyed object (or mess), then take the rolled-up newspaper... and hit yourself over the head as you repeat the phrase,"I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG, I FORGOT TO WATCH MY DOG!"

My husband could have used it last week when he thought Lani (5 months) could be left uncrated while he worked in his office upstairs, checking on her every 1/2 hour. I came home to my daughter saying Lani chewed up her shoe. I checked a little closer she had also chewed some wood off one of our book cases! :shock: "I SOULD HAVE WATCHED LANI, I SHOULD HAVE WATCHED LANI!!!" :lol:
Best advice I've seen. I think it also works when kids or spouses were supposed to be in charge too.
Too funny! I remember when Dakota was younger, I was off to take a shower and my husband was getting drowsey on the couch. I asked him to please stay awake and babysit for 10 minutes. A few minutes later, I heard poochie bells ringing and assumed he would take care of Dakota. When I returned from my shower, my husband was asleep on the couch and there were poopies all over the rug! :roll: Wish I had of had a newspaper for my husband at that moment!

Oh that is too funny and oh so true, One day i heard a weird crunching noise and found my 8 month old doodle chewing the pillar of the house!!
hahahahha!! Gabriele, I must say that my gut raction to the title of this post made me very curious how someone would phrase that one...and when I saw your name, I was surprised...then I read it and howled with laughter!! So much for assumptions!

I am leaving tomorrow at 4:30am for D.C. with the Advance Choir and my daughter from our local high school for the next 5 days. Do you think I will need the newspaper when I get back???? :twisted:
I'm really sad about leaving Lani for the next 5 days I bet she will grow like a weed while we are gone. I will have LD forum withdrawl!! :lol:

Thanks, 40 choir kids singing all the way to DC 13 hours on a bus!!! Should be a good time! They sound amazing! Good night all. :lol:
We got back from DC Monday night, what an amazing trip!!! The choir was phenomenal. They sang in the National Cathederal, at Mt. Vernon, an impromptu performance at a wreath laying ceremony at Washington's tomb, the the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, All Saints Episcopial Church, did a clinic at the American University and finally sang at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. In between we visited museums and monuments, oh yah they had an impromptu concert between the Vietman War Memorial and the WWII monument. They are an amazing group of young people.
While we were gone Lani trained my husband to go to her at night when she barks!!! :shock: I spent the weekend while he was gone at the beginning of the month letting her bark when I put her in the kennel. :x She got the idea I wasn't coming. She would bark a little then stop. Not any more!!!! Where is my newspaper! :lol:

Wow, what a wonderful experience you had! A chance of a lifetime...I am very happy for you.
I took a group of Navajo youth to Washington DC a few years back (we donated the Christmas Tree that was placed on the West Lawn of the White House) and it was a similar experience, except for the music...of course...I can just imagine the chills you had listening to the children's voices as they sang in such humble places.

I needed a rolled up newspaper last night after walking into our bathroom and seeing trash ALL over the floor---someone didn't close the door so Chester got in there and was browsing. Husband needed a smack on the nose.
Sorry, :shock: I never even thought about it that way!!! I guess we need to change that term to "we put her to bed"!!! :lol:
