O.K., so Calvin started acting like he was going to vomit so I sent him outside where he commenced to barf up 5 rocks! Not small pebbles mind you, river rock the size of small limes ( I may never drink a margarita again  ). Anyway, why does he eat rocks? I do not know what to do with him.....Beds, insulation, irrigation system, and now ROCKS???

Uggh...these doodles...I can't say much as Dex has eaten socks and had surgery to remove a piece of a ball. Could you try being outside with him for awhile and correct him when he grabs a rock? You would think we don't feed these dogs!

That's what I am looking into. I don't know if you've seen the pictures of my swamp...I mean yard. My cousin was talking to a landscaper, and they had recommended putting a couple of inches of cheaper rock underneath as a base. Have you had to add more rock as time goes on due to in compacting? I appreciate all the info.

We live in AZ and we moved into a new home a few months before we got Jax. Are backyard is completely rocks and dirt. Jaxy used to eat rocks when we first got him--so I had to intently watch him when he was outside. When he would pick on up, I would tell him to "drop it!" or I would have to go in his mouth and take it out...I would then scold him.
He eventually stopped with his fascination (for the most part). I am quite sure that he has swallowed small rocks...but I have always been concerned that he would eat a rock and have a bowl obstruction.

I have 2 labradoodles named Max age 3 this month and Rocky who turned 1 in Jan 08. One name is very appropriate. Rocky eats/chews/whatever on rocks all the time. I don't believe he has ever eaten one, but it would not surprise me. Max on the other hand eats socks, underwear, toys and anything he sets his mind to.

Good luck. :?

Thanks! They better be glad they are so cute sometimes.
They are quite a hand full when they want to be. Especially Rocky
 His thing now is digging in the yard even when he has toys and Max to play with. If you take your eyes off him for a little while you find another hole. Any advice from anyone?

OMG they are so cute!! haha...no advice...Kirby taught Dex how to dig  . Luckily they have mostly stopped based on me correcting them "No dig Kirby, Dexter" when I catch them in the act. Dex follows Kirby's lead so us getting Kirb to stop digging was key.

I think that doodle's are diggers, Jaxy has started digging too... although we are usually with him outside--so I try to quickly correct that behavior.

Sometimes when you have two dogs they are partners in crime. I know that my parent's dog who is 3 yrs old (Jaxy's best friend) has definitely taught Jaxy some bad habits like begging etc...
