My dog Mojo for the past few days has had red eyes. Now today they are very droopy and the inside bottom lid is covering nearly half of his eyeball. I am wondering if this could be allergies or something more serious. I have an appt. with the vet tomorrow but am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. THanks!![/img]

Archie had the same problem recently. It was an eye infection and we had to give him eye drops. It cleared up really quickly.

Good luck with the drops!

How is Mojo's eye? I just saw this post, sorry...I would have written sooner with well wishes.
I have heard of eyelids sometimes turning in and causing problems. Hope that you found out what caused the redness and are able to get him feeling better.

Mojo's eyes cleared up the same day, so I cancelled his appt. with the vet. Today they are red and droopy again and he has been scratching them. Is it possible that he has allergies? Hayfever? Can you give your dog Benadryl? Thanks for the replies!

I agree you should take Mojo to the vet and have his eyes checked out. Good luck, let us know what the vet says.

Yes you can give your dog benadryl, I believe the vet said 1mg per pound. Our LD, Lani, had an allergic reation to the distemper shot with the leptosporosis vaccine and had to give her benadryl. She was 14 lbs at the time and the vet said a 12mg tablet or capsule was what she could take (dosage closest to her weight).
