I've been reading about guard hairs on this forum and I assume they are the stiffer hairs that run along the top of the back? Cody is soft all over and very wavy but he does have the stiffer hairs along his back. They are wavy and not as stiff as a lab's but they are stiffer than the rest of him. He is shedding a lot right now but I've noticed it's only the super fine fuzz. Is he starting to blow his coat? He was born Sept.25 so he's about 4mo-old. I haven't seen much shedding from his longer hairs. From your experience, do guard hairs indicate a shedding dood?

I'm charging my camera battery and I'll try to get a photo of Mr. Handsome on here this afternoon. He's kind of funny looking right now. He has his "regular" hair and then then he has these little fluffy patches sticking out now and then. I keep finding little clumps of the fuzzy stuff. He's pretty funny looking. I brush him a lot right now to keep the hair loss down to a minimum. I know 4mo seems early to lose the puppy hair but that has to be what this is. I can rub all over him and pull hard on a handful of hair and only the little fuzzies come out. He just boarded for nine days 
so I think I'll see a little more stress-related hair loss over the next week.

Cody is a slowpoke so he's pretty easy to photograph. We call him speedy when we're teasing him. I hope this shedding stops. I can handle a year. I'm still not having as much trouble with my allergies. I guess this is like the awkward, gawky teen years for humans. Thanks for the nice comments about my baby boy.
