Hi Everyone - all is going fairly well with our new duo (Bongo and Jerry), and I think I am following the training-by-crate directions correctly.... but Jerry keeps having accidents in the kitchen. I keep them in their crate faithfully, and always let them outside to go potty right after opening the crate. Then I have been allowing them 10 minutes of romping time in the kitchen before they go back in the crate. Bongo is fine, but Jerry will pee in the kitchen (immediately after having pee'd outside). Does this really mean that I can't keep him outside the crate at all unless I am holding him? (It's hard to restrain the enthusiam of a pup! And I like to give him a few minutes of freedom....). He seems to get the "go outside" thing really well. The minute I bring him out he does his "business." It's just that he seems to save a little extra for the house too! Yikes. Thanks for any advice.

thanks 2doodsmom. Jerry is doing better already. I think he just gets more excited than Bongo, and kind of pees out of sheer joy! He is getting much better, I just have to keep an eye on him. I did buy an enzymatic cleaner, so hopefully that will help. If he starts "slipping" again I will take him to the vet (we had just returned from rabies, etc.). They really are pretty smart pups. I wish the photo forum was up so that I could see what Gracie and everyone elses dogs look like.....
