I know this has been asked before... but...

Lift, or squat? or too young?

Sandy is 8 months and is showing no signs of lifting his leg to pee... I know some boys never do but I was just wondering how common it was.

Dexter - didn't lift at all until about 10 mos...it was like something clicked all of a sudden. He seemed to find it fun to lift (don't ask - he just had this goofy look on his face). Now, he squats in our yard and will lift on trees/poles when we go for a walk.

Kirby - oh man, he has the funniest positions (right Annmarie?). He lifts a lot (he was just neutered at 1 yr +)...but then sometimes he'll do this modified squat thing where his one back leg kinda goes backwards and is bent. Now don't even ask, but my husband tried to get a photo of this...it's not the best angle, but it gives a general idea..

Total squat. Looks a lot like Kirby waaaay spread out as he does so. I always used to think that Dexter looked like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible when he squats:

I wasn't expecting Dekker to lift his leg for months, but last week as soon as we had the go ahead from the vet, we took to the great out doors for a walk. The first tree he came across he lifted his leg! He did lose his balance LOL, now he is a regular leg lifter. FYI he does squat when he has a serious pee but lifts to mark. Also when he squats he gets it all over his paws

Charlie is also a squatter. He is only 7 months and I hadn't realized that this was a function of age. He was an early neuter (before we got him at 8 weeks) so I just thought it was related to his lack of "equipment" getting in the way.
