My boyfriend's wonderful dog Bandit died today. She wasn't a doodle, but a golden retriever-chow mix that we rescued from Jim's landlord when he moved. She loved me, but she worshipped Jim. We think she had some sort of congestive heart failure, but we can't be sure. He is absolutely heartbroken, as I'm sure we all can understand. It's been almost 3 months to the day that Jim helped me bury my beloved Fritzy, and tonight we buried his beloved dog. Jim rescued Bandit from a jerk who had been keeping her in a small pen with 2 other dogs. The yard was full of dog poop and fleas, and it took us months to make friends with her, because she was so shy and afraid of people. When Jim moved out, we told the landlord we were either taking her with us, or calling animal control. She had 2 and a half years with Jim, with good food and a clean yard to call her own, and most of all, love. I'm sorry to put a damper on everyone's Sunday, but please say a prayer for them both......

Prayers for going your way and jim's for being blessed with such a wonderful dog that had a wonderful family that took Bandit into their homes and heart and took a chance to give her a 2nd chance.

Thanks, both of you! I knew if anyone would understand, it would be the people on this forum! I light a candle at Fritzy's garden (I have planted it over with flowers and refuse to call it a grave) every Sunday night since she died 3 months ago, and tonight I lit another one for Bandit. I'm sure they are playing together at the Rainbow Bridge!

Prayers are being said for you Kim, and Jim and Bandit! It is so difficult to lose a beloved pet...but you're right...Fritzy and Bandit are having the time of their lives pain free and whole again at the Rainbow Bridge, and when they take a break to catch their breath, they're telling each other about their wonderful owners who loved them dearly...and when they realize that their owners are you and Jim, and you're together they'll be estatic, and start running and jumping and high fiving each other!! And Kim and Jim, they miss you too.....

Thanks again to everybody - people who don't have dogs can never understand the relationship we have with our four-legged children. I've printed this thread off so Jim can see it - it always helps to know you're not alone with your feelings.

I'm so sorry to hear about Bandit. Please find comfort in knowing that you all gave Bandit the best years of his life. And, like others have said, Bandit and Fritzy are playing endlessly at the rainbow bridge.

I cannot imagine the emptiness you all are feeling today. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs,

So sorry for all the pain. Loosing a special dog is heart wrenching. We lost a dog we had for 13 years named Skippy last summer. I will keep you in my prayers today.
