We have a new Petsmart in our area that includes a Petsmart Petshotel. Everything about it looks good, but I'd like to hear from anyone that's used the Petsmart boarding.

Have you been impressed with their level of care?
Does the staff seem professional?
Have you had any negative experiences?
etc...

One advantage for me is that the Petsmart is close enough to my home that I could ask a couple of friends or neighbors to do a couple of spot-checks when we're out of town. (One friend is only about 10 minutes away.) Most of the other kennels are 30 minutes or more from my home and it would be a bit much to expect anyone to make a trip to check in on Baxter.

I don't need a boarding kennel yet, but I don't want to stress out the first time we go out of town.

Thanks!

One is opening up near us too! I have one question though. WHERE do the dogs go to eliminate? It looks as though it is all indoors. Jett, Copper, and Halo would be mortified if they had to eliminate indoors. Hunter, not-so-much. Seriously though, I think my gang would try to hold "it" until they could get outside. Very uncomfortable.

Charlie has been to Camp BowWow here a couple of times and they do not have an outdoor area either. They have a fake outside. It's a room with windows and wood chips on the floor. I'm not sure how the dogs figure it out but maybe if they see the other dogs relieve themselves, they catch on?

That's what I was thinking, or artificial grass or something like that with an odor added that says "go here" lol. Unfortunately, Copper and to a certain extent Jett, only like to go in their own yards. Copper didn't go the whole time we were at my mil's for Thanksgiving. He waited until we got back home. He's been to Doodle Romps and won't go until we get back home. He doesn't eliminate on walks either. I'ts a blessing and a curse I guess.

I can say it looks nice. (From the ad on tv). But it is a glorified kennel. I mean it looks nice that your dog and watch tv and have neat beds but with no true outside time I don't know if I would put my baby in there. But that is me. I don't know of anyone who has used it. But we just got it in the past year.

After taking Tate to two other kennels to stay with one even associated with our vet, we went to Petsmart's PetsHotel and love it. The staff takes very good care of Tate and I feel better knowing that there is someone there 24x7 unlike some places. During the time that he is boarded we have him in what they call daycamp. He plays from 8-5 with a break from noon to one. From noon to one, the staff disinfects the playrooms and toys. The dogs have a 'potty' room. I was concerned that he wouldn't understand that the 'potty' room would cause confusion when he got home. No problems whatsoever.. . he does like to sit outside for awhile when he first comes home but otherwise is fine. Based on my past experiences, I wouldn't take Tate anywhere else or trust him with any other staff. He definitely loves everyone there. If anyone decides to use it, I hope that your experience is as good as mine.

I have seen ads for the Petsmart hotels but our local Petsmart doesn't offer that service. However, based on all the discussions about Petsmart grooming, I would suspect that just as with the grooming, Petsmart kennels will vary from location to location regarding how much personal attention and care your pup will get. So just because Tate and Erica have had a great experience using them, I'm not sure you could conclude that your experience would be the same. But it could be even better!
