For the last 2-3 days, Dexter's only been peeing once, maaaaaybe twice a day. He's been drinking just fine, he always has water available to him (except at night). He's pooping fine, and he's acting fine, and eating fine, so I'm tentatively ruling out kidney failure :?

I haven't had a dog since I was a child, so I don't remember peeing frequency...but do you guys think Dexter's OK? Is he just maturing? Is 1-2 pee sessions a day normal? He's 10 months old tomorrow.

hmmm...I would call the vet and tell them what you posted to see what they say. I can say I don't think either of ours have ever only peed 1-2x a day (even with us at work all day)...but I don't know if it's that odd either.

I have to take our Dex to the vet tomorrow...his "private area" is pretty red and he's been licking a lot so I don't know if he has irritated skin or what  It's always something!

How old is Dexter? Bogie pees all the time it seems at 12 weeks. It seesm most of my dogs peed frequently.
Just in case, talk to the vet. It could be something really simple. I always tend to blow everything out of proportion and freak out! My vet is well aware of the CALL FROM HELL..lol.........as I panic frequently.
Good luck & keep us posted.

Uma doesn't pee nearly as much the dogs I had growing up. Maybe labradoodles just aren't as territorial as other pups??

The first few months we had Uma our vet was practically on speed dial. They even joked with us to never have human kids because we'd need a pediatrician to move in with us!

Never the less, I'd rather call and be reassured than not call and worry about my baby. Plus, Uma loves her vet and they all love her.

Sam is 10 weeks and the other night, while I had him inside the house, the doodle had to pee every 10 minutes. It was as if he had an internal body clock. He would sit and play or chew on his rawhide; 10 minutes later, he would sniff around. I take him out, he does a wee, we come inside and the whole routine starts again. This went on for about 1.5 hours. He's really good at holding it when in his crate. I've noticed that my presence (regardless of where we are) seems to give him 'permission' to pee and poo. Quite often, even when he's outside, he won't go for a wee until I walk him to the spot. Does this mean that he's on the way to being house trained?

Charlie does not pee very often. He gives me that look when I try to take him out before bed. And even if he doesn't go before bed, he's still fine by 8 or 8:30 in the morning. :?

Now... take him on a walk and he pees every other block so maybe it all works out?

He is 9 months now but peed all the time when he was young.

do boys pee more than the girls? Dont mean to interfere with the thread. I might be fostering a little boy and curious. My Sofie rarely has an accident :) I know human boys go more from my own :D experience!

Denver goes 8 hours without peeing during the night
and then on his first walk of the morning he literally goes and goes
but he is marking every other dogs pee spots on his walk.
During the day if no one comes home he can hold it for 6-8 hours
if he has to but one of us usually makes it home . Rare that we do not .
He is 19 months old though so...............

Abby is almost 11 months old and I don't notice her peeing as much as she used to as she matures. When she gets up in the morning she will wait for me to get ready to walk her before she will piddle and then the flood gates open  I have left her in the house for a good 8 hours and she was fine. There are some days I notice she will pee more then others. When she was younger she would pee all the time and sometimes every half hour. I don't recall how old Dexter is, but if he around Abby's age I am sure he is fine, but then I am no vet

Lynn, I am sure he is fine, but let us know what the vet says.
