Well, Oliver just got neutered, and the Vet gave him a bottle of pain pills, and the instructions say every 8 to 12 hours as needed.

My question is, how do I know what "as needed" is? I have yet to teach Oliver how to say "Ouch, my groin is really sore today." He doesn't seem to be licking it much, and he is running around pretty much as normal. I don't know! I gave him the dosage for the first two days, but not today. Oh well....

Jonah never got them and had no discomfort at all. My vet isn't a fan of pain meds...

Maya got hers for 2 days mostly cause I hoped it would make her drowsy. No such luck so we stopped them since she seemed fine.

Cinnamon didn't get any either. I was hoping the pain might slow her down so she'd behave herself. Didn't work, so I don't think she was in that much pain.

our vet gave us tylenol 3 with codine :shock: we gave her a grand total of 2 because they knocked her out so much that she would pee in her sleep. i was shocked that he gave us 15 total.

hmmm, guess i'll keep 'em around for any potential human pain.

at any rate, we could tell she was uncomfortable in the first 24 hours from her actions. sounds like he is fine though!

neither Dex or Kirby used pain meds and didn't seem to be in any pain.

Dex had to have stomach surgery (to have a ball removed) and was in obvious pain afterwards (cried a lot)...if your doodle acts "odd" or cries I would think he was in pain.

i know! i was really surprised they gave us "human" meds but they stood by their prescription. the tech did joke with me that they were good for (human) cramps, haha.

My vet didn't send us home with anything but said if we noticed him wanting to lick or seeming to be in discomfort that we could give Dante baby asprin. We never gave him anything.

Max didn't get any and took it easy for 3 days
peanut the same............i sat with them alot and massaged their body for them and gave lots of extra hugs and kisses to them both.

Likewise for Charlie. tried to keep him calm, but that only lasted for about three days. If he's up and running around he's not experiencing pain.

Denver came home with them as well
and I was to give as needed, I did not see a need
so he never had any................................
