ANYONE HAVE A PERSNICKITY DOODLE
THAT ONLY WILL DRINK WATER FROM
A CERTAIN COLORED BOWL???

(OR MAYBE JUST A CERTAIN BOWL...) :?:

COCO KEPT WANTING TO GO OUTSIDE TO
DRINK FROM HER ORIGINAL BLUE WATER BOWL.
SHE COULD SEE IT FROM THE BACK DOOR
AND BARK TO GO OUT FOR A DRINK.
("ORIGINAL" IN THAT IT WAS HER FIRST
WATER BOWL AS A LITTLE PUP.)

HER NEW WHITE ONE INSIDE,
SHE WOULD HARDLY EVER DRINK FROM. :(

I BROUGHT THE BLUE ONE INSIDE AND
PUT THE WHITE ONE OUTSIDE
AND SHE DRINKS INSIDE NOW,
FROM HER BLUE BOWL!! :!:

HAVEN'T SEEN HER GET A DRINK OUTSIDE SINCE!!!

WHAT'S UP WITH THAT???? :?:
A friend of Philip's, my son, said she had a cow who would only drink out of a blue bucket.....not a red one, or any other color. Hmmmmm.

It could be the change in the color. Although they're color blind. Striker, my parents dog, almost attacked our back door when my dad painted it from white to a dark green. Seriously, he started barking at it, and growling.... and he's not a barker or a growler.

Needless to say, I understand the weirdness of it.

i remember Max around 6 mos stopped using his water bowl too...but his preference was to drink from the tub. I'd run a bath and find max lapping it up. when we got peanut in Feb he then started using his bowl when he saw HER using it.

I have heard for years that dogs are color blind.....but I thought I read on this forum that they really weren't. Maybe I read that someplace else.
How do they figure that out anyway.....for sure.

Sue,

Thanks for the info link!! Very cool! Glad to read through it and discover some answers to my questions.....

I am glad they can see some color!!

Still not sure why Coco seems to prefer the blue bowl, over the bigger white one.....but she's happy with it inside now and I did see her this evening sneek a quick sip from the white one outside.
Weird.

Thanks again, I really enjoyed learning all about those tests done.
:)
