I have a wonderful little dog that I rescued from a co-worker of mine back in '03. At the time he told me that he paid a ton of money for this dog and it was called a labradoodle. Well, never having owned anything other than a mutt I paid him no mind. Well then I saw a news feature on designer dogs and there was a dog similar to my Stumpy. Anyway since then I have done some studying on Doodles and I do believe my dog is a doodle.

Anyway my question is....does anyone know how I would go about finding out where my dog came from? I know it's next to impossible, but any suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Randi

Randi- Welcome! What a neat story! I'm sure you could find a list of labradoodle breeders in California somewhere on the internet. Maybe Jac knows? Jac is a breeder in California. The fact that you got the dog in 2003 might help because some breeders haven't been breeding labradoodles for that long. Meanwhile, this site has a gallery with lots of pictures of labradoodles... you might want to check it out! http://labradoodle-dogs.net/gallery/ Good luck in your search!

Welcome Randi!!! You will find this site an incredible resource!

OK so now I want to see a picture!!!

heres how to post them (pay attn Jac! )

Put all of these on the SAME line with NO spaces in this order:

1)

2) http://theaddressofthepicture (must use a "public" site like photobucket or shutterfly... yahoo pics doesnt work)

3)

Photobucket is great if you use it because it does the work for you, when you choose your pic just use the bottom option, you will see that it does the whole

Hi Randi and welcome :D I guess you no longer work with the co-worker you got the dog from? I really have no words of advise for you as far as being able to locate where your dog came from unless you can track down your co-worker. It would be neat to know. I wish you luck and please let us know if you are successful :)

Hi Randi, welcome to the forum...you have found a great place for friendship and advice.

I am a breeder and I do live in northern CA...but I am not originally from CA, I only moved here in 2000, so I don't know what area you are in.

I'd be glad to see if we can find some info, we could start a search and see where it leads. I do know of places to post questions...and even pictures that might get some responses. I also know of some breeders that have been selling pups for a while and may be some good places to begin.

Since your co-worker said he paid a lot, I would assume he got the dog from one of the more experienced breeders, but if you don't mind contacting me, we can discuss this a bit more.

You can reach me by clicking on the PM button below...that will send a private message to me and we can chat a bit.

Kelly...you are tooo funny! Okay, I paid attention! I'll try to post a picture or two and try it out...tomorrow!

Bridget, thanks for thinking of me...I certainly will do what I can.

Randi, I'll look forward to talking with you...and to seeing the picture of your dog!

Hey, Randi, welcome! Don't be a stranger, we love to make new friends.

I don't have any info or suggestions that haven't come up, except like Di I was wondering if you can't ask your co-worker where/who he got your Stumpy from? Like Jac said, if he/she paid plenty of money it sounds like they got him from a breeder.

the adventure continues, right?

Okay, it worked, sorry it's so big. Stumpy ir eally fluffy cause I gave him a bath the other day and brushed him with a real small brush. He's usually pretty wavy.

He really is super cute, and his personality is wonderful. He is very good with my ten year old son who loves him about as much as I do.

Maureen, he is medium in size. He weighs about 20 to 25 lbs.
