New attempt at walking 2 doodles

Last year I was walking the boys on 1 leash with a coupler (EZ walk harnesses on both). It worked ok, but if both were pulling I could not correct them. I had 1 bad walk and stopped walking them together. My husband has to go out of town next week so I need to figure out some way to walk them together (or get up extra early).

I put the Gentle Leader on both and walked them on 2 separate leashes today. It really went well. We passed 2 squirrels which sent both doodles into crazy mode, but I was able to control and correct them. Otherwise it was just like walking Dexter (who still pulls a bit) because Kirby was right next to my side (or behind me).

Walking 2 does take some practice. Jonah and Miko really picked it up for me. We got to the point we could even do trails at the park. Jonah learned the command "same side" when they tried to go different ways. We had really good luck with a longer coupler. Now with three....unless it's really wide paths....I don't think it's going to happen. I could probably do either with Miko, but I don;t think I even want to try the 2 boys together. There's still a few "issues" with the 2 of them.

Great job Dexter and Kirby....knew you could do it!!

are they still sorting out their dominance? I realized how our situation really worked out well because Dex is a HUGE baby and really really (playfully) submissive. Kirby went with us to play with our friend's boxer (who is a bit dominant) 2 weeks ago and they had a small incident at the end of the evening.
I think so. Jonah IS the alpha, but a gentle alpha. He lets Rumor act it, then will on occasion take him down a notch. But then sometimes Rumor will just get right back there in his face. It usually goes in 2 day off and on stretches, then nothing for 2 weeks or so. It's usually food/bone/stick related, or Rumor just walked a little too close or blocks Jonah. They do play fight in the yard, but not anywhere near as much as Miko and Rumor. When they have their "incidents", both go in a sit/stay....we have a "chat" and the item in question or dispute, goes away.
Yeah that sounds like our first few weeks with the boys. Luckily, Dexter realized pretty quickly he was not going to win the alpha battle and gave in and hasn't really tried to test it :) We came to realize he's really a HUGE baby...but we are happy it's that way. Kirby would not work out in a house with a dominant dog :)
Jonah used to roll over with Miko, they took turns, but since I got Rumor, he only does it for me.
