It is a good idea to ask about a discount in exchange for publicity...we are certainly in a good situation to give positive publicity!

Hey, maybe even the press would do a story on their success with Zeena...not naming Zeena's owner, however...no need to embarrass her...but it would be a good slant for a "feel good article" for the local press! (As long as they didn't turn it into a doodle-bashing.)

Oh, and I forgot...please do contact the breeder...the breeder may well be willing to have Zeena boarded until she can get her back somehow. I know that I would drive to pick her up if it was one of my puppies...and I would pay for boarding/training if necessary. Please do contact the breeder with this info.

I was trying not to seem like it, but the truth is that I am only in my teens and I joined this forum because I love my family's doodle as much as all of you love yours.
The problem now is that I am leaving to work at a camp tomorrow for the whole summer. I won't have internet access.

I have showed my mom this forum and all of your suggestions and links. I'm helping her try to figure something out for Zeena (my aunt is her sister). I wanted to help on my own but I can't because I'm short on time.

The reason I'm telling you all this is because after today I personally won't be on to post anymore, but I still have my mom working on Zeena's situation. She feels just as bad as I do and will make sure that Zeena won't be euthanized.
For questions, please email my mom at [email protected] instead of [email protected]. I'm so sorry for this confusion!
I will be back on at the end of the summer to update everyone! I'm not just letting this slide, even if I'm leaving.

As for an update from our breeder, she isn't not being as cooperative as we had hoped. She told us to look for a rescue group before shipping Zeena back to her in order to save the stress of a flight. She hasn't offered to help with anything else.

And here is an updated picture:

We would love to hear how things are going and your mom can email me also. We will do what we can to help. All the advice that has been given is great advice. Be sure to let your aunt know about all the rescue organizations in CT. One may be able to help. I am sure that at 10 months, Zeena can be worked on.

Hi Bianca, I wish you the best in your camp experience and I hope that the work you started here will pay off for Zeena.
Please tell your mother that she is welcome here...your aunt too, because as frustrated as I personally feel toward her decision, perhaps we could help her deal with the situation so that she can find more compassion toward Zeena and help to find a better resolution.

Thank you guys sooo much for everything! I have given my mom my password so she can update everyone.
I think my mom and I have talked to my aunt enough now that Zeena is out of danger of being killed, but they still don't want to keep her. :( I wish I were older and could work with her myself!
I actually went and saw Zeena today and she really is a great friendly dog.

My mom says that she will check up here hopefully Thursday since we will be on the road tomorrow.

Thanks again!!

Bianca, for someone in their teens you have the heart and and soul of a much older person. Hold on to your passions they will carry you far in life. your mom must be so proud of you! Zeena is very fortunate to have you and your mom looking out for her. Good luck with your summer job.

My My I must add for a teen you are very responsible!!! I don't think any Vet that has any kind of heart would put a healthy dog down unless it had attacked a child most would take the animal and try and re-home or call the shelter which isn't always the best but they won't just destroy them.

I hope your Mom keeps us updated on Zeena.

UPDATE:

Here's an email I got from Bianca's mom:

------------------------------------------
HI there,

Bianca is now in camp and I will take Zeena in for the next two weeks while her owners are on vacation.Afterwards it will be decided what will happen with Zeena and right now I am quite confident that she will not euth.her, but hopefully some rescue org.will take her.
We know Adopt a dog fairly well, I had adopted a dog through them years ago and I already gave them some thought as well.

Thanks for your concern!!!

-------------------------------------------
I emailed her back to let her know that we can help find her more resources if those we have given her do not work out. I also asked her to keep us updated. I will post her responses when they come in.
