Since Christmas costs us a bundle with Kevin having a large family, I decided to spend this year making lots of handmade gifts. I can be found at any given time on the daybed crocheting doilies, belts, scarves, throws, shrug sweaters, etc. I am usually very vigilent about putting it up when I get up to potty. Let's just say I'm middle-aged and so that's pretty often, LOL. Yesterday, I got up to take a quick break and left my crochet bag open. I came back in the room to see Dexter, caught in the act, with a brand new ball of very expensive cotton thread, completely taken off the spindle, and thoroughly slobbered. He dropped it as soon as he saw me and put on his "the cat did it" face. I wish I had the camera handy at that moment. He got a stern scolding and mommy didn't speak to him for a bit (which killed him worse than the scolding). So I sat for hours and undid his mess, and actually managed to save the whole ball of thread. After the salvage effort, I let him up on the daybed for a snuggle and makeup talk. Not 2 minutes later, he snatched the ball and the chase was on! Talk about a naughty boy!

If my 25" doily that is nearly finished had been attached to that ball, he'd be coming to Uncle Gene's for an extended visit with cousin Jonah and Miko!

I can't WAIT to get moved so he has a yard to run and expend that extra energy!

I have not gotten my knitting out for that very reason...Tanner would have a great time with it...for now he just has to settle for stealing my flip flops... I think you will find it much easier when you have a yard...then it will be sticks, stones, grass and dead things:

haha...sorry that is so funny. Yarn would have no chance w/our Dexter either. And he's the same way - he clearly knows what's right and wrong, but he'll steal and run away w/things still a lot.

oh and flip flops are his favorite thing...he's sneaky and tries to get them when we're not looking.

Visiting Jonah and Miko at Uncle Gene's would be punishment? Don't say that out loud or the doily will be toast! Can't you imagine the good time that would be had by all?

We may be onto something here.....Uncle Gene's home for wayward doodles. Send me your grubbiest, naughtiest furballs, and one week later I will return a soft, sweet, cuddly couch-eater!

Where is he today, anyway?

So....you want him to learn more tricks of the trade from the professional?

Jonah and Miko say there's plenty of room in the yard, but if you stay the night....it'll have to be a comforter on the floor cause the bed's full!! :D

I started a new job at Caribou coffee today as a shift supervisor. Just got home and am on a caffeine high!! Hope it wears off soon because I'm in tomorrow at 5:30 am which means up a 4am for doodle time!!

Congrats on your new job, Gene!!!

Back on topic, Cinnamon didn't bother any of my projects, but I would always have to get up to see what she WAS into. When Cin was a pup, I was working on a major trade show (working from home) and I was also working in a church office during the day. Talk about not having time for a puppy. I don't think I had time to sleep, let alone any kind of hand work. I learned how to say "no" after that year!

Good luck with your doily!

Happy New Job Gene! Caribou Coffee's Cappuccino is my Marc's favorite. I am off coffee (boo hoo) for as long as these hot flashes continue, it just makes them more intense.
However ... back on topic -sort of-. I am picturing your homestead with two rambunctious doodles and you all hyped up on coffee. The balance of power may be altered.
