Nail cutting

I forgot to tell you guys that Mom took me to get my nails
cut this moring.
I hate getting my nails cut, I mean I really hate it.
Mom has cut them for me since I was a baby, but I decided that I
am a big boy and stronger than her and Dad and I don't want them
to cut them anymore. So when Mom took me to the vet a while
back when I had my owie, she though that I would let the vet cut them. No way I said and it did not happen then either.
So Mom has been upset cause they were getting long and blah blah blah
Anyway today she surprised me and took me to Bosleys which is great
cause they sell food and treats and everything and the girls love me and give me hugs and kisses. Well she took me into the back room and i have
never been there before and Mom and the groomer named Lisa put me up
on this table (now Mom's back is sore)and then I saw the nail cutters and I said no way ain't gonna happen and it did not soooooooooo Lisa(that is the groomer) brought out
this grinder thing and started filing down my nails, well it was noisy but it
only took minutes to do all my nails and I got treats and hugs and everything soooooooooo Mom is happy and I am always happy if she is.
Life is even better with shorter nails. If any of you hate the nail clippers
ask to get them filed down as it is fast and easy and only cost Mom $13 bucks and i am worth $13 bucks at least..........

This is my first novel

Love and hugs and kisses to all

Anna, that looks pretty cool! To keep from getting hair in the tool, slide pantyhose over the paw and just let the nail stick thru...
Leslie, the filing makes it easier to see the quick. I can't see the quick on Bella's black nails. And you can do it often, even daily. And you can make sure there are no sharp edges. I saw one photo where the nails were sooo short they could never scratch you. I bought a mini Mite but have yet to use it. I'm supposed to show it to Bella very slowly (like every day for a week) and work up to trying to file one nail. Sue, she goes in for grooming this week, I'll probably get a lecture for letting them get so long.....
I'll try and find the website of the lady that uses it, she has great pictures.
Is this the link? http://homepages.udayton.edu/~merensjp/ ... index.html
Click on the link that says "How to dremel dog nails".
Thanks Marty - I have saved link for DH - he has a dremel and can give it a try
You're welcome. I've tried to do something similar but I think you have to be very consistent in doing this every day for a while before the quick shortens that much. I do our dogs' nails at least once or twice a week but they aren't nearly that short. Right now, that's 32 toenails to do and soon to be 48!! Not sure I'll ever get my dogs to lie down and be relaxed like that Doberman.
LOL I'm not sure on Annabelle - she is scardy when it comes to noises :(

That's it Marty!!! Thanks!!
Denver,
I have to get my nails cut this week and I'm going to see if FoodLady will request the grindy thing ... I think I'd like it better! :?
Why is your FoodLady lifting you up? My FoodLady said "Yikes, she could hurt herself". She says she has to be careful just to pick up my rear end to get in the car! Hmmmm ...
Okay ... grindy thing ... park ... toy! I go in on Thursday time to start begging!
Thanks for the advice .... your so cute! :) Tee Hee!
Woofs and Licks,

She had to help the groomer lift me up as I
heard the words nails cut and decided not to co-operate
Mom made some remark about how the forum people
would not think me so perfect cause i was acting like a baby
I am sorry it hurt her back but today she is fine so it is all good
Good luck with your nails and do ask about the grindy thing, just
do not pay attention to the noise. Have your mom kiss and hold you
and tell you how wonderful you are and remember that afterwards you get presents. Just be your cute sweet self and it will go well.

I was shocked at how calm Max when when i took him to get his nails trimmed last Sunday...though i will say if i am allowed to be near him and tell him to SETTLE and what a good boy he is, then he's fine. Let me try to leave and he HOWLS hahhahahaa

Peanut takes a few minutes to calm down her wagging excited porky butt hahahhaaaaaaaaa
