I forgot to tell you guys that Mom took me to get my nails
cut this moring.
I hate getting my nails cut, I mean I really hate it.
Mom has cut them for me since I was a baby, but I decided that I
am a big boy and stronger than her and Dad and I don't want them
to cut them anymore. So when Mom took me to the vet a while
back when I had my owie, she though that I would let the vet cut them. No way I said and it did not happen then either.
So Mom has been upset cause they were getting long and blah blah blah
Anyway today she surprised me and took me to Bosleys which is great
cause they sell food and treats and everything and the girls love me and give me hugs and kisses. Well she took me into the back room and i have
never been there before and Mom and the groomer named Lisa put me up
on this table (now Mom's back is sore)and then I saw the nail cutters and I said no way ain't gonna happen and it did not soooooooooo Lisa(that is the groomer) brought out
this grinder thing and started filing down my nails, well it was noisy but it
only took minutes to do all my nails and I got treats and hugs and everything soooooooooo Mom is happy and I am always happy if she is.
Life is even better with shorter nails. If any of you hate the nail clippers
ask to get them filed down as it is fast and easy and only cost Mom $13 bucks and i am worth $13 bucks at least..........

This is my first novel

Love and hugs and kisses to all

Denver, you great big, lovable, handsome sweetheart you!!!!!! I'm so glad your Mom found out about the grinder/sander thingy....Raleigh and Mollys Daddy has one, and it's called a Dremel tool...used for woodworking and whatnot...ours has a little wheel that you put a little round piece of sandpaper on the barrel, and it just buzzes away!!! Molly dosen't seem to mind, but Raleighs not quite sure about it yet.....
You did great on your first novel, and tell your Mom that we hope her back feels better...in fact if you could jusy scooch your butt down a little bit on your couch, there'd be room for your Mom to take a nap too!

I did not like the noise but I had my head on Mom's shoulder
and she was telling me how handsome and brave and wonderful I was
and how afterwards we were going to go play ball and I could get a new toy and some treats until I heardly even heard the noise of the grinder as it was drowned out with the( suck -up)I mean sweet voice that my Mom was using. It was all good.........

Great job Denver! I'm not too sure about the nail cutting either. My nails don't get too long cuz mom takes me on walks on concrete sidewalks everyday. She has been grabbing my paws and looking at them a lot lately with that frown look on her face, so I think I have it coming some time soon. Maybe she'll try the grindy thing since it worked good on you. I'm a little nervous though....

Hey guys, my mommy uses this new fangled thing that she bought. It doesn't catch our hair like the other noisey things and it's not half bad. Maybe your mommy can check it out. We still don't like it but we do it for her because she feeds us and gives us treats when she's done torturing us. http://www.brooksgrove.com/home

Your buds,

Anna, that looks pretty cool! To keep from getting hair in the tool, slide pantyhose over the paw and just let the nail stick thru...
Leslie, the filing makes it easier to see the quick. I can't see the quick on Bella's black nails. And you can do it often, even daily. And you can make sure there are no sharp edges. I saw one photo where the nails were sooo short they could never scratch you. I bought a mini Mite but have yet to use it. I'm supposed to show it to Bella very slowly (like every day for a week) and work up to trying to file one nail. Sue, she goes in for grooming this week, I'll probably get a lecture for letting them get so long.....
I'll try and find the website of the lady that uses it, she has great pictures.

with both my doodles oh wait and Beau having black nails ...i am too scared of making them bleed. Funny i can groom them, have done so much with injured animals in the past, etc but ask me to clip nails and i run the other way hahahhahaaa

so i pay $8 per dog to get their nails trimmed

I'm with you Annmarie - AB has dark nails, DH cuts them, every once in a while, he nips to short :(, we have kwikstop for emergencies. If I had to be the one to trim, she'd be having it done at vet. I'll use scissors and clippers to groom her, but no to the nail clipping
