Hi, new here and with a few questions.

I'm considering purchasing a mini goldendoodle or labradoodle. I assume that the activitiy level of both will be about the same but I'm wondering if one is louder than the other? My golden retriever is really quiet, and I'm wondering if goldendoodles are quieter than labradoodles.

I'm also wondering if the minis are louder than the standards, since I've seen a lot of yappy high strung toy poodles. How much do they bark? And are they high strung? How do their personalities and amount of barking compare to the standard labra/goldendoodles?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Hello RobotQueen, welcome to the forum.

The questions that you are asking are really not breed related, but more of a training issue.

Yes, some dogs do have issues with barking, but from my experience it isn't a result of the type of dog that they are, rather, it seems to be a temperament issue. Some dogs like to bark to communicate (which is how they DO communicate) and some are barking because they fear certain things/people, etc.

I don't own mini's but I believe that all of the comments about yappy dogs is based on old wives' tales...I always thought that Poodles were snooty and high-strung, until we got ours and then I discoverd that he is the best dog I have ever seen...and he is that way by his very nature, not because of our environment.

So, your questions, although important for you to consider, are really almost impossible to answer accurately.

If you do decide to go forward, please check in and let us know when you get your puppy!
