Hi Gang, The article was finally put in the paper...must be a slow news day!!

He is feeling better now. We are checking for allergies next. Vet put him on benedryl this weekend and now the scratching, gnawing almost completely stop. Not sure were we go from here. Can't stay on that for ever. I will call her back later report our findings from the weekend and go from there.

So I suppose the next problem will be from adoring fans who see the newspaper article and the web site!!! Ya know before I owned a dog, I did not know or associate with too many neighbors. Now everybody knows Kathy and I. Course they just know us as Marley's mom and dad, not our names, but that is ok. And know this. Crazy!!

Designer reactions

I just wanted to let you all know that while the designer dog article was fun, I am a little surprised at some of the comments made by readers at the end of it. I would also like to say that the majority of the people of Madison do not share the attitude of some of the posters in this article and hope that you don't get the wrong impression of its people from this small sampling of morons. I chose not to get involved in the banter. What do you folks think of the reaction? Interesting if nothing else.

It did make for interesting discussion in my neighborhood last night. Course those people know me and Marley and they understand he is a dog just like theirs. Just seemed some of those comments were a little extreme. But ya know, each night when I sit on the porch with Marley by my side at the end of the day, enjoying the silence of a moonlight night disturb by only the drone of the ever present crickets, I know I made the right decision, and I can live with that. So accept the bad, but I am here to tell you Madison is a place this former Buffalonian is happy to call home. Have a great day.

You know, I didn't even read the comments because I knew that many would be really negative. Don't let that bother you. (There are people who are still prejudice about gender or race or sexual orientation....after all these years...these people won't change. Same with mixed breed dogs...)
So, enjoy the wonderful news coverage you got and don't let the hurtful comments of a few trouble you.
In fact, I read our local paper (from home, Utah) online and I have noticed that it is rare that someone writes to actually say something nice or positive...the general mindset of those who post on these articles is to criticize and tear down.
Sad, that the media has given these people annonymitiy so that they can be openly hostile to your face without actually showing theirs.
Maybe I'll go on and post a link to the Genitic Diversity study....yeah, I think I'll do that.

 AUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's all I have to say about the comments.

About Marley's journalistic debut ... well done! A great happy picture of a darling doodle and owner (and kudos to your brother for adding his positive two cents!)

Ya know before I owned a dog, I did not know or associate with too many neighbors. Now everybody knows Kathy and I.
Six years in a neighborhood ... only know my immediate neighbors. Now ... it's little kids and older folks and so many people on the streets where I live who may not remember my name but ALWAYS say "Hi Ebbe! :D

Marley represented doodles very nicely. Well done!

The comments show the ignorance and bias of a few and really have no bearing on anything. No matter what we do, when it becomes public, there are always some who will support us, and others who will criticize simply because they can do it anonymously. It makes them feel superior to point out anothers "flaws" to take the focus off their own.
