Hi my name is Jimmy Glenn. I am a Marine Veteran suffering from PTSD and TBI. Injures I got while overseas in Iraq. I am looking for a labradoodle to be my psychiatric service dog due to my family's needs as well. My wife has asthma and allergies. I also have a 2 year old daughter and a 3 year old neutered male cavashon. The cavoshon is to small to be a service dog. The dog and I will train at Wags 4 Warriors. If anyone can help please. I have been looking and have not had success. The dog should: be at least a year old for training purposes but at this point I will not be picky. Also I would prefer black and straight hair large. Again color really does not matter and I would prefer straight but the need out weighs wants. However, the Labradoodle cannot be a mini due to the fact of it being a service dog.

Thanks
Jimmy Glenn

Unfortunately I don't have a lead for you but just wanted to let you know that labradoodles are not necessarily hypoallergenic. Also, a doodle with straight hair is more likely to cause an allergic reaction. The curlier the hair and the more generations of doodle in his or her line the better. There are other large breeds that are more allergy friendly- like a standard poodle. However, doodles are really great dogs! :) Good luck and thank you for serving our country.

Info about the allergy myth: THE ALLERGY MYTH-COURTESY OF "LABRADOODLE TRUST" - Doodle Rescue Collective Inc.

And contact the Doodle Rescue Collective @ Doodle Rescue Collective Inc. - Labradoodle Rescue & Goldendoodle Rescue

and they also list dogs by regions so don't forget to check these out as well. Some are resuces and some are surrenders - the rescue group MAY have conncetions in trying to help you find a service dog but I just don't know. Good luck and thank you for your service.

Allergy friendly - yes.
Allergy free - no.

Do you know if your wife is allergic to the hair, dander, saliva, or other? This would help in trying to determine which breed may work best for you. Right off the top of my head and not being a "specialist" per say, sounds like you may want to look into the standard poodle. Great dogs with great personalities and easily trained. The Giant Schnauzer may be another breed along with the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three breeds are also great with kids.
