This may be a strange question, but being that Charlie was rescued from
a shelter and then from a family, is it possible that they were confused
about his breed?

My Charlie the "Labradoodle" sure looks a lot like an Irish Wolfhound, and
he is growing like one -- 80 pounds at 8 months old.

Here's Charlie:

Here's a Wolfhound:

Am I just imagining this? Does anyone else have a doodle that people
mistake for an Irish Wolfhound? Or do I have a Wolfhound?

People mistake Max for a irish wolfhound lab mix alot hahahhaa

ok here's a few questions to ask to see if he is more doodlish or not

1. Does your doodle click his teeth when playing
2. Try doing doodle 500 funs for no reason...totally sponatneous
3. STEAL socks, panties etc
4. is your shadow better than peter pan's?
5. weight doesn't matter. max was 77 lbs when 13mos old, 26 in high and Sue's Denver is somewhere between 92-100lbs and 32in high

Lastly, the irish wolfhouse if you look closely has a different build less like a lab or poodle....more like the Borzi in a way? i know i spelled it wrong (gene, mary, linda, sue, and other hooligans---kathie doesn't count as she spells pictures as oictures)

He was abandoned by a breeder. Perhaps he is a Irish Wolfdoodle!!!
Does anyone else have a doodle that resembles Charlie?

Oh, by the way...
1. Does your doodle click his teeth when playing?
He clicks when snapping at Hershey during play.
2. Try doing doodle 500 funs for no reason...totally sponatneous?
Not spontaneously... just when chasing Hershey.
3. STEAL socks, panties etc.?
Nope... that's Hershey!
4. is your shadow better than peter pan's?
Nope, but he does love laying on my feet.

Charlie has always been VERY laid back. He would rather sleep that play
or eat. When Hershey gets him stirred up then his size becomes a real
advantage. He is slower and would rather walk than run... but the dude
can really move when he wants to! And he can clean out 2 bowls of dog
food in just about as many gulps.

He and Hershey are as opposite as they come. Hershey is 100% doodle
for sure! I'm still not convinced that he isn't part Wolfhound unless one
of you can show me your doodle that looks and behaves similarly. But,
he'll always be a doodle in my heart one way or the other. :D

People ask if Denver is part wolfhound all the time.
I had a woman argue with me as she says she knows her
Wolfhounds and I was wrong. I told her no I am not wrong, got the papers to prove it Bahaahhhaahahaaaaaa

Oh and 80lbs at 8 months sounds about right to me, but then I do
own Horsedoodle, who is back up to 100 lbs at 15 months.

Oh, i forgot....

I think Charlie is ALL LABRADOODLE!! The body type is very different than an Irish Wolfhound.. and yes, the ears are quite different....and there is something about the doodle's front feet....they have a certain stand....and I see that in Charlie. ( sort of like a dancer in fifth position.)

Glad he is somewhat laid back, since you have one that is very active.
I hope to have a laid back second doodle someday.....

I think he looks very much like a F1 labradoodle. He definitely has Labbie ears. I dont think the weight is indicitive of being a wolfhound, I had a female lab that weighed 95 pounds. I think WH's have a coarser hair than most doodles. Male WH's avearge out at 150 pounds at adult, that's a huge dog and 34 at shoulder, you could ride a dog like that. I have never seen a WH, but would love to

I also have had people ask if Annabelle is a wolfhound pup, I think it's the hair around the mouth area that does it, so many people are Not familiar with Labradoodles

Good luck with Charlie - hope he and Hershey do well together !

Well, seeing as my Fozzie was 83 pounds at 8 months, yep, he can be a doodle.. LOL Fozzie is 95 pounds now. Yes, Charlie was abandoned by a breeder, but the original papers did say labradoodle that were at the shelter. The shelter did not give those papers. Oh, and Phantom is often mistaken for an irish wolfhound as well. Not sure why.

Some people have mistaken Cinnamon for an Irish Wolfhound, too. Weird.

Cinnamon hasn't stole a piece of clothing in her life. She doesn't beg for watermelon either. She loved shoes as a pup, but that's the only thing we had to watch out for. She didn't steal socks or underwear. She was a chewer and a lover of anything wood. Also, she doesn't steal anything off counters or dressers, never eaten a pair of glasses. So see? Charlie isn't that strange for a doodle.

She does do the doodle 500's from time to time still at 2 1/2 yrs. I'd say at least once a week. But if he doesn't, maybe it's because Hershy does them for him. He might be the one who stands back and says"you go girl!"
