Hershey has a swollen, red, irritated nipple. She is only 5 1/2 months old. is this something to see a vet about or wait and see if it clears up. there is no oozing or discharge or anything. should we put anything on it?

Any advice appreciated.

If she doesn't seem to be bothering it and making it worse, you might just keep an eye on it for a couple of days and if it doesn't clear up, take her in and have it checked out. It never hurts to be safe than sorry.

there's a cream that looks like a cow...it's black and white.

My uncle had a dairy farm and not only used it for his hands but also the cow's udders. It might help?

not sure about the black and white can (different brand I imagine) - but bag balm too is cow udder cream! I use it on my hands, my daughters excema and my bitches nipples lol

its made by the Dairy Association Inc out of vermont and has been around since 1899 :)

completely safe, proven to work and can even be used on superficial abrasions (like a neospryin) I love it.

Comes in a green square can and has a cow head on top and udders on side!

forgot I use it on rough elbows (the dogs!) too!!

Bag Balm is a wonder drug for dry skin it even has a little antibotic in it. It is for cows udders but it works for hands, elbows no reason it wouldn't work on her nipple. I would try one of these for a day or two if it didn't get better I would take her in.

Just make sure it is not swollen or there or no lumps there is a such thing as mammory gland cancer I don't know how common it is however.
