Someone suggested we add some "off-topic" forums to the site... I think it's a great idea.

A lot of you view each other as being "family", so I think it's only good to let people talk without bringing the other forums off topic.

This would be a great place to introduce yourself, especially if you're a new member to the forums.

Hi All,
My name is Kathy, I'm a substitute teacher living in Southern California. This coming school year I will be completing my M.Ed. and receiving, at long last, my teaching credential. I have loved labradoodles for several years but unable to think of having one in my home until recently. I am the personal maid, momma, caregiver to two Tonkinese cats: Billy age 8 and Jerry will be 19 on Wednesday. I want to raise doodles and am happily waiting for the mama to come into heat. I am not in a hurry as the longer it takes, the more I learn about caring for these magnificent dogs. My favorites are the chocolates and that is what my puppy will be. I hope to eventually have two doodles in my home permanently and stop with that. I don't want more than I can properly and lovingly handle. I also hope to enter a training program where my dog(s) and I can be a therapy team. I would also like to donate one or two puppies per litter to Guide Dogs of America or to a similar service dog organization. I have much to learn and I am an eager and good student.

I forgot to add that I would like to thank Todd from Canadian Chocolate Doodles for recommending this blog to me. More later.

Ohh Kathy,
Welcome to our forum. I'm sure you're going to love your little chocolate drop from Todd....his pups are outstanding. Doodles are awesome as service and therapy dogs. Not so good at guard dogs unless you want the burglar licked to death!
My Seamus is a therapy dog and works with me 2 full days/week in the nursing home/ hospital. On the days when I go to work without him, I have to answer all day from patients and staff why my little furry assistant is not at my side!!!

Hi Kathy, and welcome. I'm glad you decided to join us here. I'll pass on a compliment to the whole forum, I told Kathy this was a great place to join. The information is great, but mostly the people are great too. One of the best things I like about this forum is that we have patience and always take the time to give new people the chance to ask questions, and give them the great thought out answers that we recieved when we were new our selves. This isn't true everywhere, and it's one of the reasons I stay here.

Hi, my daughter found this link on facebook.

My miniature labradoodle is 14 months old and is an F1 called COBY. He was diagnosed at 7 months with developmental hip dysplasia. Fortunately having sought a second opinion last month we were told by a top specialist that we will be able to manage the condition conservatively rather than have a total hip replacement which had been booked for this month. He continues to thrive on his careful regime and is not even limping anymore. Apparently the condition stabalizes around now and the body comensates by producing more bone and bone spurs to create a fitting ball and socket. Down side is osteoarthritis. However he is not in pain and we don't need painkillers or antiinflammatories. He had 4 months of hydrotherapy twice a week which probably did the trick. He is a beautiful lovely doodle. We are in the UK

I am not "new" to the forum but haven't been on in a long time. I had trouble logging in some time back and gave up. So I set up a new account here to reconnect. I am Cindy and 2 years ago I got my labradoodle, Mandy, from Maureen (Labradoodle Ranch). I will post pictures of her once I figure out how to do it on the new format.

Hi

Hi Everyone,
My name is Camille. I stumbled upon this site by accident but I'm so glad I did. I'm a new parent to Dallas, an F1b labradoodle. Dallas is 12 weeks old and too adorable for words. He's also very smart. One problem...the constant nipping and biting at everything and anything! Will that ever end??
I'm hoping to learn alot from all of you and welcome any feedback, ideas, experiences and the chance just to share.
Thank you all!
I've uploaded 2 pics of the little guy.

Welcome Camille!

Dallas is absolutely adorable! Don't worry about the nipping and biting. Stay consistent with correcting him when he does and you'll notice it to start to get better.

I don't really remember how old Juneau was when he finally stopped jumping up and trying to bit our sleeves or biting our socked feet, but it felt like forever!! Juneau is now 13 months old and you'd never know we had such an issue with it.

It's just one of those special puppy phases that like to test our patience, but take comfort in knowing that it will pass, just stay on top of it!

Thank you.

Hi Nikkiey,
Thank you for your reply to my post. I'm glad to know there's a light at the end of the biting and nipping tunnel! : )
Juneau is beautiful and oddly enough, his pictures were the first I went through when I got to this site. I love his puppy picture and can see how that one started the love affair. Same with Dallas in the crib picture. When I saw that one, I was hooked!
Will stay in touch and let you and everyone else know how the nipping goes.
Best,
Camille

New to the Forum with a new puppy

Hi All, My name is Rebecca. My family (husband, 3 kids ages 11-20, and a Pom-Chi) just welcomed home our F1 Labradoodle named Sully. He is 11 weeks and weighs in at 11 pounds. We fell in love with his easy-going and playful personality. He had a great night last night and has been doing fabulous today with house training and also with learning to get along with the crazy little Chihuahua who is positive that she is queen of the roost. I look forward to learning from you all. I spent some time on the forum as a lurker when we were considering getting a puppy again. I especially enjoyed the puppy/adult pictures to see the different coats types and how they have turned out. We live in Michigan.
