Posting Pictures

To post a picture on the forum you will need to have a online picture hosting site.
The easiest to use is http://www.photobucket.com . This is a free site for posting photos.

First step is uploading your photos from your computer. The "bulk upload" option is the fastest.

After your photos have uploaded, there will be a group of links either next to, or underneath your photo.

Left click on the box next to IMG. This will copy the address.

Then , go to your post on the forum, right click and paste. You may want to hit preview on your message to see if it worked.

To post pictures with another on line picture hosting site, right click on your picture and copy.

Go to your post and hit the IMG button in the message box.

Right click on message, paste, then click on the image button again.

Preview your message to make sure it worked.

Have some fun. We love photos, the more the merrier.

If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me and I will help all that I can.

For some reason this didn't work for me :( My options say that HTML is off, so maybe that's it.. I tried to turn it on, but it doesn't seem to make much difference :(

Right now I was just guility trying to post my non-doodle, so maybe it's the doodle gods working against me! I really want to put up pics of our ALD puppy when he/she arrives later this summer though!

Thanks for you help in advance!

Hey Gene!

I was trying to use pictures from www.flickr.com.

When I used the html tags they didn't work though.. they just displayed in the post as the actual text in the tag. I did notice that my options in the bottom left hand corner of the window I see when I'm writing a message says that HTML is OFF. I tried to turn it on using my setting, but that didn't make any difference when I gave it a second go.. the setting still said html off.. Maybe that's it?

Thanks so much for your help :)

Found It!!!!
Follow these instructions to get the URL of your photo. Then right click and click on "copy image location". Come back to the forum to your post......hit the image button, right click and paste, hit the image button again and you should have pictures!! Let me know if it works. It did for me with out changing my HTML setting.

How do I get the URL of a photo?

To use the URL of a photo (like when you add a photo to your Blogger profile), you must provide the web address (URL) of the image itself, not the address of the web page where the image is displayed.

Here's an example of a correct URL for a photo. Note the .jpg at the end:

Here's an example of an incorrect URL for a photo. It points to the web page where the image is displayed, not the image file itself. Notice there's no .jpg at the end.

(Click both of these links to see the difference.)

To get the URL of the actual image file, find the photo you want to use. Click the "All Sizes" button above it and select the size you want. If the photo is yours, two text fields appear below the photo. The first contains a snippet of HTML that will produce the photo on your web site, with a link back to the photo page on Flickr. The second contains the URL of the image itself. Simply copy and paste the one you want into your web site.

If the photo isn't yours, you may not be able to access the Different Sizes page (if the owner doesn't allow downloads of the photo).

Note: Per our Terms of Use, whenever you place an image you're storing on Flickr on an external web site, you must also include a link back to Flickr.

Thanks so much! It was actually doing something really strange. When I copied the image location there was jpg at the end.. then three numbers. The numbers were messing up the whole thing! Just a tip for anyone else having the same problem!

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out how to post pictures from Picasa. I've worked out posting a small photo (the preview thumbnails), but when I try to post a larger copy of the same photo it doesn't seem to work.

Here is the small photo:

When I double click on the thumbnail in Picasa I get a larger copy and then click on Copy Image Location it doesn't work.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong??

Hi!

I actually had the same problem when using picasa... but I think I figured out what was wrong. When you upload pics to the web using picasa you can choose a size (small, medium, or large). My theory is that the size is stuck after you've uploaded it. If there is one specific one you want to post I'd try re-uploading and making sure that you've picked a larger size during the uploading process :)

I hope that works for you!

Wow!! That took me a while!! I think I have it figured out. Go to "link to this photo", you can change the size of the photo. Copy the "HTML to embed in website" link. Come to your post, hit image, paste info, hit image again, then delete the following I have highlighted in red. It's a pain, and I'm sure there will be an easier way....I'm just not a computer expert. Hope this helps.

I think I figured it out. Working from Meredith idea I got this result.

This is as large as I can get the photo. But that's okay. I first had to change the size of all my photos in my gallery to large. Then I could right click and select copy photo location. Then back on the board it Img/past/Img and the result is shown above.

Then using Gene's idea I was able to post the larger photo.

Thanks to all for the help. Special thanks to Meredith and Gene.

Lining up smaller pictures horizontally

Wow! You guys have done such a great job with this topic! Now I'll be able to post bigger images from picasa when It feels necessary for them to be a bit bigger! Thanks so much for the time and effort :).

If you're in picasa and have chosen the largest size for your thumbnails and pasted them into a post, you can put them in a row by putting three ordinary spaces between the img close and the next img open :). If hit enter between the two the next image will be on the next line.

It looks a little funny when you're editing the post because the link is so long that it goes way off the edge of the posting window, but when you actually make the post it just lines the pictures up horizontally:)
