Hi everybody. Quick question. Charley is really hot and it's only March! Does anybody know if cutting his hair will help him with the heat? So far, the only thing we have found that helps him are ice cubes. He loves them!
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks, and hoping it's not a hot summer!

Yes, cutting his hair will help, but be careful not to cut too short as they are prone to sunburn.
We keep a kiddie pool filled with water and our overheated doodles like to climb in and lie down. I only put about 3 inches of water in it (because it gets so dirty).
Do you have air conditioning at your home? If so, keep your dog inside during the hottest time of day.
You can buy "cool mats" but I have not found them to work well...you have to wet them and while the idea is good, if chewed, they contain those crystals that soak up water, plus the one we used got pretty smelly.
Our dogs also like the garage because it stays cooler and the floor is always cool for them to lie on.
Many dogd go into dark bathrooms and nap in the bathtub because the tub itself is cool.
