Hi guys~
My new doodle had his first visit at a kennel for 2 nights! I hated being without him, but he had a very good time! I found a very good kennel in the Kingwood, Texas area, so if anyone needs one, please let me know. They are awesome.
My doodle is chasing everything, he is SO curious! He wants to chew and bite everything. Tonight he bit my arm, and it really hurt! Time for obedience school? Or do you all know of good ways to get them from biting me?!
Thanks!

How old is your puppy? Sadie will have to be boarded for four nights in July. I already have it scheduled and the deposit made. It's supposed to be an awesome place that fills up quickly so I thought never too early! I'm already obsessing on it though and hoping she does well. She'll be 9 months old at the time.

Every time he puts his teeth on you at all says OUCH in a high pitched, loud voice. Then turn your back on him for 10-15 seconds and refuse to play. He should learn pretty quickly.

Puppy classes can't hurt but to tell you the truth, I learned as much online from differet boards (like this one) and articles and videos as I did in class.

Do you have appropriate chew sticks ( I use Bully stix)? These Doodles seem to chew more then other dogs I've had. My classic 30 year old Birkenstocks are proof of that  I agree, I startle the dog with a sound followed by 'NO BITING'. Recently instead of nipping she POKES me with her nose--I was SURPRISED  the first time she did it because it was so fast  She does the same to dr katz--no teeth! Remember these are HUNTING DOGS that genetically have a NEED to use their mouth. Some hunting dogs have a naturally soft mouth and others are hard mouth and need training. Either way it's a normal behavior that can be modified.

Thank you all for your ideas. He always goes after things he shouldn't have, so I will definitely have to buy some bully stix. His favorite thing to chew on when I'm not looking is his leash!???
Silly puppies.
