Lexie had her first cycle just shy of her 6 month birthday and Bayley had hers at 8 months.
Dogs can cycle as early as 4 months, but that is uncommon. It is more common that they cycle at 6 months, but still not the norm. Usually they start at 6 to 12 months. It is a gamble, any way you look at it.
If her cycle does start early, you can just wait it out and be very careful with her (so no surprise pregnancies happen) and then have her spayed, but it is far better to spay before the cycle, in my opinion.
You might want to talk this over with your vet, if you are very concerned about it, you could schedule the surgery a bit earlier.
