Green discharge in eye

I came home from work today and Miko has a green discharge in her right eye. Other than throwing up a stick this morning, she's he rambuncious self and is eating right now. I figure it's an eye infection, or she caught my cold? Since it's the weekend, can I just give her the amoxicillin I have from her bladder infection. I'm going to call the vet on Monday, but til then....what do you all think??

Thanks in advance....you guys are the best!!

hey, Gene, sorry about your gunky eye!
I would hold off on systemic antibiotics cuz my vet has only ever treated it with drops or ointments, topically.

Honestly, I think it probably can wait, but how about going to the pharmacy and asking a pharmacist about suggestions for drops to keep it at bay until you can see a vet? My Walmart Pharmacist was very helpful with dosing Benadryl for Jasmine when I thought she had a wasp sting. OR, how about going to a Banfield clinic at a Petsmart? If you can't wait that would be an option. I would see a vet, and get a prescription, but I wouldn't call this serious enough for an emergency clinic an hour away unless Miko took a serious turn for the worst.

The good news is that the small bottle of drops will be on hand for the next time this happens, for either of your kiddos.
GOOD report!!
Aren't you glad you didn't go the Emergency Clinic route?

And now you have drops (I presume) that will last for any further inflammations so you don't worry about your kiddos if the green eye-boogers reappear.
well, Gene, I'm no vet, but if Miko's eye was that red - and it was only one eye - it sure sounds like an infection to me! But...either way, I'm glad she's doing better, and that Jonah is relieved from his 'duty' or assistance! PLUS, if you see any funky eye-boogers again you can just jump on it with the drops, ya know? You'll have a regular medicine cabinet with your Doodles sooner than you think! and it's handy!
