Hi,
I am new to this forum and it seems to contain a great deal of information. We are considering getting a labradoodle for allergy reasons, but was wondering if anyone can help me find a good, reputable breeder in Eastern Pennsylvania (New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland) area.
Thanks for your help! :D

Thanks for the information! My children are very anxious to get a pup, but my husband and I want to do this the right way, so your information was a great help. I fell upon this site and I can tell it's going to be so helpful in educating us about all we need to know before we commit to adding a dood to our family!

Thanks for the help. Everyone is so warm and in reading around the forum, the members are so invested in helping and giving advice. I have been looking into this breed for over a year, but have not been in the position to buy one. There is a therapy dog one of the teachers brings into my children's school every week and I have seen both my boys benefit from this experience in different ways. We have talked about getting a dog when they were old enough to help out, which they are now, but I realized that I seem to experience allergic reactions to dogs after being around them for some time. Both my boys seem to have allergic tendencies and the last thing I want is for all of us to become attached and not have it work out because one of us reacts. I would feel very comfortable working with one of the breeders from the forum and I appreciate your telling me this.
Thanks again,

Hi,
I haven't had much chance to write with crazy workload and kids, and...Thank you all so much for all of the advice you have given me. Jac, I actually posted my information on the doodle rehome/rescue board from one of the links you had sent me. Well, 5 days later I got an e-mail from someone needing to rehome their goldendoodle. He is 3 years old, is black and curly and really awesome. We went to see him last Saturday and decided to see if it worked for all of us. The people we got him from took really good care of him and felt guilty because they didn't have enough time to give him any attention, anymore. He is great with the kids, very gentle, easy and loveable. He seemed to imprint on us immediately after we picked him up this past Saturday. He slept fine in his crate the first night, but cried last night because he seemed lonely. The only other fault I can see, is piddling when I walk in the door or he is getting ready to go outside. I think I solved this for now (I don't know if I did it the right way), but I get all my stuff together and his leash and let him out the door before leashing him. We'll see if it continues. If any of you have any suggestions, I am really open to them. We also need to get some training for him because he seems to really love chasing squirrels and in the process, dragged my 8 year old son a couple of yards.

I feel so lucky to have been given this opportunity so soon after joining this board. He really seems to be a good fit for our active family and he is very social. I have been taking him to the local dog park and he loves to play with the other dogs. The next step will be taking him to a park and running with him to see what he can do (he is a bit deconditioned and needs to trim down a little) trying to get him in shape.

Any suggestions anyone has for me, I would love to hear. I am truly a novice, never having had a dog before and have been bending as many ears as possible so I know what will help him.
Thanks for all your input so far,
Lori
