Maya has not been able to tolerate the Canidae she has been eating. In the last two weeks her stools have gotten very soft and increased in quantitiy. I had her boarded at the vet since I had to go out of town on business last week. The vet said she didn't like the volume or consistancy so I should change food. After consulting the posts here I decided to give Blue Buffalo a try. One there is no corn in it and two it is the only other food I can get in my area with no corn. She is on the chicken and rice formula since the breeder fed her a chicken and rice formula prior to me getting her. ( I can't get the breeder's brand of food here either). Her stools are still runny but I just switched on Friday night. I didn't do the slow switch cause she picked her new food out so I figured it was best to give her food than let her starve. Two questions:

1. How long should I wait to see if this new food makes a difference?
2. The last post on the runs said to put yogart in the food....How much yogart and how often?

Thank you for any help you can give.

PS I have also stopped all treats. Training takes place with her new food pieces as reward.

Ok so I read the yogart review in the stories about our labradoodles discussion so I have an answer for the yogart problem. (Guess I should read all sections before posting...my fault!!!) Now how long should I wait to see if this food is any better?

I was only feeding her one cup (I used a measuring cup) in the morning and one in the evening. That is the low end of the feeding guidlines on the bag. So could it still be the food?

Tanner's stools were always soft on Canidae also, I think it is a great food but didn't work for us. I switched him to Merrick Winderness and his stools have been firm ever since.
Ingredients: main ingredients are

Buffalo, Oatmeal, Barley, Salmon Meal, Venison, Whole Brown Rice, Canola Oil

I switched Coco over to Solid Gold, but it's a real premium dog food and we might not be on it for long (the price is steep and she eats loads). However, it does seem to be working for hardening her stool, and she likes it more than Science Diet, which is what she was on earlier.
