He is a cutie! Thanks for the picture...sounds like you are doing very well with him and the training, except of course the one major accident. 
Ah, well...that happens sometimes.
His coat could thicken and curl a bit, but don't be surprised if he retains the Lab look...which is really great! (He will most likely shed, though...)
