Well, my little buddy had yet another surgery in September to try and tighten the cruciate up and what we're left with is a gimpy little dog. His left leg is a little cowhocked (turns out while standing). We walk about a mile each day and it seems to go ok, but when we get home, he only uses the leg to stabilize himself while standing. Still on meloxicam and gabapentin, as I'm told that he now has arthritis. We've been told to keep walking (on leash) as much as he can tolerate to keep the muscle mass up, but he can't run off leash any more, because he has a 40% or better chance of tearing the other cruciate. We've seen 2 vets as well as a specialist and this is what we have ended up with. I feel so bad for him because he lives to run. I suppose it's a good thing that my last dog, Elvis had cruciate issues as well, because I'm used to compensating and caring for a special needs dog. I don't suppose we'll have much more to update you guys on as far as his surgeries, but we're still around and visit the forum a couple times a week. Thanks for reading and listening. We'll keep doing the best we can for Cash.....
