Sigh...I am embarrassed to say my Abby LOVES to eat cat ka-ka  Her radar hones in exactly where a pile of vile may be in a HUGE park and go for it  Normally, I am a distance away because we are playing fetch so I can't get to her fast enough and if I do say "leave it" she is running away gobbling it  Does anyone have this issue? It grosses me out :x She won't go for dog doo only the cat crap :? Nothing like cat ka-ka breath -ugh :x

yeah, i think all dogs find cat poo to be tasty morsels. we call them "puppy tootsie rolls". kumo also loves to eat goose poo which we have a LOT of around here this time of year. we trained a "leave it" command, and gave him a correction every time he looked sideways at the poo. we can just *tell* when he's thinking, "hmm that looks yummy". gradually, he has stopped going for stuff like that when we are out on walks. there are still times when he's off leash that he eats something nasty... but, he's a dog. what are you gonna do!

Cat litter boxes in my house are all behind
screens that are open enough for them but not Denver.
Nothing worse than waking up at 3am by a dog kissing you
with a wet beard until you turn on a light and discover the wet beard is the contents of chewed up cat litter.

Thanks everyone for your feedback...I like the recycle comment :D The website was helpful Ellabee.

I am glad Abby isn't the only doodle munching on kitty poo  My brother's Shelty used to always eat his Gordon Setter's poo so he put meat tenderizer in their dog food, which prevented her from eating the doggie doo..wild! Funny thing is Abby knows what she is doing is wrong because the way she runs from me with that certain "guilty look" I guess I will have to be more diligent when she is on the quest for kitty krap

Okay a kiss in the morning from a dood with kitty litter on the beard would have me hanging off the ceiling fan  Thanks for the visual Blueteal

hahahahaha...I know, Terry, this is really NOT funny to you...and I hate to admit this, but puppies eat poop! Sometimes they eat their own, sometimes other dogs, cats and any manner of animals. The only real danger, besides the "puke factor" for parents, is that they can carry disease.
I suggest that you work very hard on the "leave it" and "drop it" commands. She will outgrow it...

Oh my...deer poop  Yuk :? I am working on telling Abby to drop it when I see her grab it, but she runs around like a goof ball munching on it like it was a steak bone :p It amazes me how fast she is at FINDING it  I think I will have to keep doggie mints in my pocket, plus doggie mouthwash and teach her to gargle

Oh, well, you know...since I was lauhing and telling you all about puppies normally eating poop? Weeellll, my two Moyen Poodles have now discovered the snack! Only they eat what the other dogs poop...! We pick it up twice a day, but still, that leaves some for them to munch on! Today, I took an entire bottle of cayanne pepper and instead of picking it up, I sprinkled all of the poop with hot pepper! (All the "piles" are red!) We'll see if they develop a taste for that...if so, it is bitter apple next...but I am still going to leave it for a while, just to tempt them...and, hopefully, make them stay clear of the stuff!
I've never had a dog develop a taste for it later in life! My pups often do it because their mohters do...and they outgrow it, mostly...I think. But to see my Poodles pick it up at 5 months of age, has me worried!
That's what I get for laughing! hahahahaa *sigh*

For fall, how about......Doodlemathakia me skubalon.......??

I took it from Dolmathakia me Kima, which is Greek, meat wrapped in grape leaves.......Skubalon, is greek for pet waste, or refuse on the bottom of your shoe.

And before you ask....no, I am not greek, and....
yes, I need a nap!!

hahahahaha...personally, I think we have all gone over the edge!

Lexie developed a taste for tobasco sauce too! Only I had to use it on wood, not poop, for her...so the combination of greek yum yum and tobasco, sprinkled liberally with cayanne...sounds just doodlicious!
