Hi everyone! I've been gone a while, but, Doc and everyone is doing great! It looks like everyone's up to their old antics here as usual! he-he!
It's great to see the new members too! Everyone's pups are so cute!

I have a question about leather furniture. I caved in a long time ago and let Doc get up on the furniture, but, he drools on it and gets it all dirty. I have to try to clean the upholstery alot and I'm sick of trying to put towels down on the couch all the time. Soooo......I was thinking of getting some leather furniture so I could just wipe it off easily. For those of you who have leather furniture, does it hold up well? Does the dogs' nails harm it at all? Do they tend to want to chew on it?

Thanks for any input!

Hi ya Kim
Missed you!!!!
Wow leather furniture huh!!!
Denver could have a house full of leather furniture
and it would not be a problem. .
He has never been interested in furniture other than to sleep or sit on.

the dogs nails have scratched my mercedes seat so I am concerned to get leather furniture. I have the microfiber sofa and loveseat etc and its super easy to clean I just use a wet water only washcloth about once a week and it vacuums real well too.

Hi Kim,
We had an upholstered couch and loveseat that I was sick of trying to keep clean...the dog hair just seemed to 'weave' itself in with the material and it was horrible to try to get out...Charlie our old Labbie slept on the couch constantly, and it started to smell 'doggy'! Even tho I kept it covered with a quilt...long story short, I had 'had it'! So this past January, we went out and bought a leather couch and loveseat with recliners in them...I too was concerned about the Doodle's nails...especially with his zooming, as he used the couch like a bank on a racetrack!!!  The salesman took a nail and tried to push it thru with force and let me try it too...the material wouldn't budge...hence, we now have a new set, and Raleighs nails have done absolutely nothing to it! So go for it, and enjoy!!! :D

Hi Kim! We missed you and Doc! We have a fairly new leather couch that Bella uses as a landing and launch pad during play time. It's actually a sage green color and very soft. No problems at all (and I am not too good about getting her nails clipped often). That said, I do know there are different 'grades' of leather and the really expensive leather (probably like the Mercedes seats) would not be appropriate for a dog friendly home ...or a kid friendly home for that matter, according to the leather salesman...scratches very easily...it's the really, really soft leather that almost feels like suede and is not treated or 'tanned' like the other types.

Thanks everyone! I'm encouraged to go out and get some leather furniture now. I think I'll give it a try.

Raleighsmom and Linda - it sounds like you got just what I need. Was it a certain brand or did you get it from a certain store?

Blueteal - yah, I was wondering if it would be like a big rawhide bone to the dogs! Ha-Ha!

Thanks, Kim

I have one cloth couch....and then there's the leather :D ihave 2 leather couches, 1 sofa , chair, ottoman and leather rocking chair. All are holding up really well. Max and Peanut don't go on them at all ...so how do i know they do well? cause when DAVE had a dog ...that dog always ran up on the couch barking at the cars 24/7 hahhahaha he got them dirty and but his nails were okay. i cleaned them easily

Max sometimes had jumped and stood on the leather chair like KING TUT when we first got Peanut. no scratches from his nails.

one note: i found natuzzi leather holds up extremely well or better than another brand i have

I've had my Natuzzi set for 8 years? now....anyway it still looks like the day i bought it. The danish leather rocking chair...also great.
the other set my ex had bought at raymour and flainigans doesn't hold up as well and was more money than Natuzzi. Natuzzi also several grades of leather you can choose from, treats it and so on.

All i know is certain brands dry out easier , can rip easily as one big couch i have did. Natuzzi isn't sun faded but the the one that ripped did. my kids also got "cup" stains on it a few years ago. I put thsi one particular couch in the basement :D

Its so great to hear that leather stands up so well. We just bought our first house and splurged on leather in the livingroom. So far Hershey doesnt jump up on them, by no training on our part she only jumps up when invited, but if that changes its nice to hear they will be ok.

mercedes = 1999 e320 I picked up a few months back with 48k miles, one owner and not a ding or scratch for 14K wooohoooo and a 2 year warranty to boot!

heck of a lot cheaper than the 06 4door f150 I had let me tell you!!!

ONLY thing i am still not used to leather....i think i prefer cloth still hahaha oh well but the Landcruiser has 3rd seat row which is perfect when taking dave, teenagers and doodles somewhere ...we fit without being cramped :D

SEAZR what are you doing with the convertible i am supposed to have?
