ok...here I thought with Max being 18mos old and peanut 13mos old
i'd have more worries about BEAU 6mos old and never let him out of my sight

welllllllllll let's say last SUNDAY my family and I moved all furniture and cleaned whole house and started DOODLE PROOFING our home as if i had 3 little kids again

Seems MR MAX somehow had managed to swallow a small to medium sized kitchen dish towel whole:shock: how when where? we don't know cause i have stopped using them and thought ALL were safely put away

I have never seen something so BIG come back up on a dog! and OMG it scared us half to death! Luckily he's fine

soooooooooooooo i have now come to the conclusion Doodles untill they're at least 2.5years old are NOT mature yet!
So i puppy/baby proofed our home as if i had a 2 yr old and and two 3yrs olds.

I posted this sooooo others can learn from MY mistakes

ps Peanut NOW pocket surfs all coat pockets ...which taught us to hang up all coats! money and receipts are here favorite items

I don't know what it is about eating weird stuff - and Dex has regressed as he's getting older  He apparently snuck off and demolished/ate half a tennis ball while we were at my friend's on Saturday because Sun morning he threw it up - I'm guessing that is not helping his belly problems.

We're having a bit of a struggle as well with Charlie. As soon as something hits the floor, he's all over it, doesn't even care what it is. This is tough in a house with four kids who never put there stuff away like they are supposed to. The wife and kids were home yesterday on a snow day, and I guess he ate a Leapster (kids video game) cartridge. Now why would a dog want to eat that?

What makes it worse is that he is more likely to do it when my wife is home, and not me.

And your just NOW figuring this out??? LOL!

I think our house is fairly doodleproof but when the family came home for Christmas, it was mayhem. The kids weren't used to picking up their clothes, closing the closet doors, etc. But they learned fast. :D

DEB...my doodles never chewed shoes, towels, socks till about a couple of weeks ago! they used to lick them
this is new behavior for me, BEAU is good too.
we can't give Bones at the moment due to Beau's age and normal puppy behavior right now with dominance issues which is so normal

and so the puppyproofing i thought was good enough, wasn't as of this Sat when Max gave back a towel he must have eaten during the night maybe in our bedroom? who knows!
cause during the day i do NOT let any of my doodles out of my sight
as they're like little kids...and my kids weren't left alone either

also...if it's too quiet, then i worry hahhaaa
i got relaxed with Max and peanut being 1- 1.5yrs old and maturing
and only worried about BEAU
not anymore hahaaaaaaaaaaaa

Last Friday, Willow came into the room and seemed to be chewing on something.

Pried her mouth open and found one of my daughter's pacifiers that Willow must have dug from beneath the crib.

Willow probably figured that what's good for the goose is good for the gander ...

OMG Max , a towel !

Annabelle is going to be 2 in May, I still block her out of living room if I am not right there, dont' trust her, she's never chewed on the furniture, but we got new furniture last year and I'm not taking any chances.
After she ate a pair of glasses when she was 11 month she pilfered off end table (27" high) I dont leave much on any table anymore.

OK, Cali is 15 months old and I'm not liking what I'm reading here! With three children, I know better than to naively think, Oh my doodle wouldn't do that! Hahaha! Thanks for the warning not to get complacent! I will be on the lookout for behaviors to come. If at all possible I will wear her out as much as possible so she'll be too tired to even think about getting in to stuff.

MEG, remember all dogs/doodles are different

Max was never a chewer but peanut was
Max didn't nip ...peanut did at one time and Beau stopped too.
max didnt' jump much ....beau is just stopping

so while some Doodles may act silly and so on at 18mos Others might not
then again IF your CALI does act silly soon
we'll we will all have a good laugh with the been there done that commonality and feel a tad better about our own doodles

Mary I had to laugh when you mentioned Annabelle eating glasses! Tyke has pulled the nosepieces off of my Mom's glasses so many times that our optician (thank goodness he is a friend!) starts laughing when he sees Mom coming! Today I walked in my office and there lay Tyke on the floor in the middle of all her office chewtoys and bones, with my SCISSORS!!!
Why in the world would she take the scissors off my desk with all the wonderful toys she has to play with????
