I think the first time at the dog park Chester was a little bit overwhelmed---so many play options. Then next time we took him as we turned into the parking lot he was drooling and whining in the car to get out there. We were so used to seeing him in his normal environment.
As for the pit bull I'd be cautious as well...just in case. From what I've seen at these parks the dogs are usually well socialized but you never know.
