Digging

Abbie was not really a digger, but she did try to "help" her Grandfather with some gardening! She LOVED to play in the flowers and most of all in his beloved lavender plants. She eventually killed them all- when he replaced them, he put up those little wire garden gates- I don't know exactly what they're called, but you would know them if you saw them. That way he kept her away from his plants! Abbie's trainer said that when she is doing something that she is not supposed to be doing, make a really high pitched squeeky noise like an "eeekkkkk" sound to scare them. They will eventually get the message. I don't think that I answered your question at all, but at least it had to do with a yard! :lol:

I agree with you on the idea of giving them a spot to dig. For some reason, I just don't think that would really work (although one of my labby friends swears it works). I heard about putting some of their poop in the hole and covering it back up with dirt. In theory, the dog would be disgusted by digging in its own poop. I don't know of anyone who has tried it, but it may be worth a shot. Good luck!

Okay, I haven't actually tried this, but a friend told me that if you have a digger you put chicken wire in underneath the spot where they dig. If you try it, let us know how it works. I am curious about this one.
