I apologize for such a lengthy question but I figure the more info available the easier an answer would be to find.
So Buster is a 15 wk Chocolate F1B that we have had for coming up for 5 weeks. We are lucky that because I run my own business that Buster can go to the office with me every day and in fact with my office in our neighborhood, which is very dog friendly, Buster pretty much gets to go where I go. So the local shops and cafés already know him by name.
Now early on there were a couple of instances, as there always will be, where I could not take Buster in with me. And on those occasions he was crated and either my wife or I came home multiple times during the day to walk him or let him out. Everything seemed fine then the neighbors said that they had not heard a peep. Also, my wife and I are avid runners and schedules are runs for early mornings. We let Buster out to do his business around 4:30 then give him a treat and re-crate him and go do our runs which usually last a couple of hours. Once again everything has been going great. Most of the time he is still sleeping when we get back.
However, all that changes toward the end of last week and very much so yesterday morning. Last week he started becoming very clingy at work getting up and following me around the office every time I moved (the office is small and he can see me no matter where I’m at from his work crate). Then on Thursday and Friday mornings when we returned from our runs, actually earlier than normal. He was wide-awake and very excited in his crate. This escalated yesterday morning when in fact he was barking and yowling when we returned
. We have not changed our schedule or spent any less or more time with him. So we are not sure what brought this on? Therefore, I guess our question is this; do you think he is spending too much time with us/me causing him to become more excitable when we do leave? I’d hate to have to limit his time with me at the office because it has socialized him so well that beside this recent development he has been an angle of a pup. Any advise or thoughts would be much appreciated.
